Sheens to talk Lote on 2sm this arvo

Great start to the season ….. Lui at 1/2 i must say Coach 0&4 never lets you down i don,t care how this guy trains the one defining aspect is he can,t TACKLE .A season of great potential butched in the first quarter of the season. So in reality we have 2 halves that can,t tackle and will have to be covered

players can improve, this is a new year

Kicked the radio when Sheens stated he would be starting Lui at half.. lets not hope another season goes down the toilet before sheens wakes up to the fact that Moltz and Marshall is our best halves combination :brick:

Don't discount Lui in defense, we didnt see much last year but with a good off season under his belt anything can change, look at chris lawrence from '08 to '09.

I couldnt believe the improvement in Lawrences defence in one off season so who's to say Lui cant do the same. One thing i like about Lui is that he has the best long kicking game in the competition.

Poor Robert Lui - even gets bagged on the Lote threads!!

lui went from the most talked up player not playing last year to reject.
sheens was a moron for not playing him and will now be a moron if he does.

looking forward to seeing both lote and lui playing.

Yeh, lot more to junior development than a handful of top grade games.
Give the guy a chance.

As for Lote, a caller on Hollywood & Zorba this morning brought up a good point, that Lote is a very young 30yo in terms of an NRL player….he hasnt had 12 years of the impact the NRL dishes out to a 12 year veteran, if if he is an outside back.

Well now that John Morris is gone people need someone to direct their hatred towards. Until Fitzy gets a start in first grade anyway

Thats how I see it.

I reckon he has made about 30 tackles in the last 7 years.

He should be in great nick injury wise.

Jeez I hope Taniela heals up.

Imagine a backline of
Moltzen
Tuqiri
Ayshford
Lawrence
Tuiaki
Marshall
Lui

Well up there with the best in game.

Disagree
Moltzen is not a fullback
Ayshford has a long way to go, but the potential is there
Lui has a very long way to go, and has only played 3 first grade games

Although Lote, Lawrence, Benji and Tuiaki are class backs, but there definitely is better backlines like Hayne-Grothe-Tahu-Reddy-Inu-Mortimer-Keating. There are a few others I'd rate ahead of ours.

i personally dont want lui as our half as moltzen definitely has more to offer..speed being the greatest one..

Who would you throw into fullback then BT?

Myself, I would prefer to have Lui and Moltzen on the field rather than Moltzen and Brown (or slot in other alternative).

Lui was usually the best on the field in the NYC games… and the players are really taking up his skills from training. He didn't set things on fire when he was called up into the side, but the kid was 19 trying to steer a team during the crunch time of the season.

He can play very well, and with the experience in the backline, I think we can risk giving him a go in half.

Moltz will still be a playmaker, and can use his speed from fullback. He has a great set of hands so I think fullback is a brilliant position for him.

I think Taumata could be given a test run at fullback before Tuqiri's arrival and Fitzhenry as a direct replacement for Tuiaki's void. Personally this would not be the team i would go with, BUT this would require the least amount of deckchair shuffling on the Titanic.

1\. Taumata
2\. Fitzhenry
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Ryan

6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen

The reason Taumata at fullback is because he is lightning quick(likely the FASTEST at the club), and fits the Sheens mould of a fullback with ballplaying abilities. If Taumata hits a hole, then shut the gates, 4pts will be guaranteed.

I would rather Brown or Pritchard on the wing instead of Fitzhenry.

I agree, I hope that sheens does trial Taumata in the fullback position. The kid seems to have the qualities that would make a good fullback, including size which we have lacked.

I just think he won't trial him there for some reason.. hope he proves me wrong because that means we could have Moltz in Half and leave Lui in NYC for the year..

I would also prefer prichard on the wing rather than Fitzy. Plus I think Fitzy is destined only to play as back up hooker, or at best, utility.

Just as yesterday proved, Fifita was introduced to Jim Beam /State Cup level and had less impact stepping up to another level. Don't get me wrong, he played very well, but the next level up showed that it takes more time to adjust from the NYC touch football standard. Lui IMO still needs another at least another year to develop.
