CANBERRA Raiders frontrower Dave Shillington has been arrested for drink driving after testing more than twice the legal limit.

The Australian representative was arrested at about 6.30pm on Friday, December 11, in the inner-north Canberra suburb of O'Connor. Shillington recorded a blood-alcohol level of 0.115, more than twice the legal limit of 0.05, when breath tested during Operation Unite, a national police blitz.

The 26-year-old made his Australian and Queensland debuts this year, after joining the Raiders from the Sydney Roosters. He toured Europe as part of the Kangaroos squad in October and November.

will this ever stop?

here's hoping that in the new year, we won't see any of these headlines…... but I won't be holding my breath

Dont hold your breath dave.

Why would it stop?
Players are human like the rest of us and cock ups will continue…only difference is the media reporting eveything from players farting in lifts, nosepicking, dui and drug dealing

The NRL players are just a sample of young men in society. Any problems that young people face in society will occur in the NRL, just like the AFL, and any other sporting league. Anyone who thinks that these things will completely stop are kidding themselves. The only way we will stop hearing about this stuff is if the papers don't report it.

What a load of crap. There are plenty of players that dont get in trouble like this. Maybe they should ban them from the NRL. They might start taking things seriously then.

I didn't mean that every player has every problem. But as long as people drink, people will be caught drink driving. While drugs are available to people, players will take drugs. The last thing these players are thinking about when they are out on the town is David Gallop and the NRL.
