Shonky ref's

For anyone on this forum that is stats orientated I would love to know the penalty count on teams' home games in the NRL. We would have to be amongst the teams who get no preferential treatment from the refs in home games- we seem to lose more penalty counts at home than win.
Watch plenty of teams ride the hometown ref home to victory- wish we were one that got that sort of free ride, its worth 2 or 3 extra wins a season. Gives you the ####s.

Yes thats true but I must say, almost 100% of penalties against us are warranted. We lay all over the tackled player in the ruck and we are good for quite a few high shots per game. Our markers are never square and we panic when we get teams trapped down their own end and rush up too quick….Very ill disciplined side, always have been.

The Ben Barba voluntary tackle? If that's not a voluntary tackle then get rid of the #####ng thing out of the rule book- it was as blatant as you will see. The Simona crusher tackle? Where was he supposed to go? He had 2 100+ kg blokes pushing him forwards onto the tackled player. Farah not square at marker? Even Brandy who seems to dislike WT with a passion agreed that Farah was square. We get rorted pretty often by the refs in home games where other sides basically use the clown in the middle as a 14th player. Its bullshit.

Ok Ill give you those and raise you the Cronulla try obstruction penalty…that was a howler and the Tedesco try with no obstruction penalty that could have gone either way. That was a 10 point turnaround in our favour.

We are our own worst enemy penalty wise on most occasions.

Our penalties may have been warranted, the only problem is when the other team does the same thing and doesn't get pinged.
Even in the previous game today Newcastle got hammered, and even warned, about play the ball indiscretions while the Storm wrestled and held on in every tackle without a worry.
We cop unwarranted penalties every week.
The refs today even told Woods to bugger off when he challenged them.

OK lets assume you guys are correct.
Why?
Why is our club picked upon? Could it be that every ref knows how poor our discipline is and are watching us closer?

It's a known fact poorer teams get a rougher deal.
Refs go into games with pre conceived ideas on teams… They shoulldnt but they do

Agree for once ck - same for both sides is not too much to ask - I guess it is.

we probably got the rub of the green tonight but the reffing today was horrible to both sides

The Refs have a quota in regards to whistle blowing each game ….
Wests Tigers are a sure thing .
:roll

We got the rub of the green? FMD we most certainly didn't get the rub of the green… that means you get most of the dodgy decisions go your way which we did not.

Brandy hates The Tigers?

Heard him give Moses & Tedesco massive wraps over the past few months…

It was as if the refs decided that the try awarded to us after Gallen sooked and stopped playing, that they were going to make sure the shire won.
There was not one 50-50 call go our way after that moment.

^Demps, mate he is 2nd only to Matt Johns when it comes to bandwagonning. Listening to his commentary over the last 10 or so years it is pretty clear he enjoys a Tigers loss.
Maybe Wests and Balmain smashed his nasally little body around back in his playing days.
Not that we need his support but as a commentator he doesn't throw too much positive stuff our way. He is a flog.

Voluntary tackle doesn't exist anymore. If that Ben Barba incident wasn't a penalty there'll never be one. Tons of blatant forward passes missed.

The holding down penalties are our own fault. On one of them I heard the ref repeatedly telling Josh Aloiai to move. No response from him, penalty.

The Paul Gallen obstruction was the biggest sook case. He never even made an attempt to get to the space. He saw the decoy runner was there and decided to protest, rather than playing the game.

Exactly. Would be very interested to see the stats re hometown penalty counts. Have absolutely no doubts we would be more disadvantaged than most. Makes a massive difference at the end of the season to a middle of the road club like ours. Can handle getting beaten by a better team but we were up against the 2 blokes that matter today. That stinks.

Why would they improve when their bosses are washed up refs that dished up the same garbage for years, were never pulled into line & then handed a plum job. Tony Archer should be sacked. They can replace him with Badger, Hayne or Checcin.

Bullcrap :roll
It's a wide held opinion.
Definitely not a fact.

OK in 2015 and 2016, there were 233 home sides. Home teams won the penalty count 130 times = 55.79% of the time.

Of those matches, Tigers have had 15 home games and won the penalty count 4 times = 26.67%

So definitely, we don't get a home ground penalty advantage consistent with the NRL average. Whether that is ref predetermination or just general poor discipline I can't say.

^ it's poor discipline. We have always fielded teams who struggle defensively. Therefore we try to slow the play the ball down and stuff it up a lot.
