Should Potter Be Sacked

No he shouldn't be sacked.

I think the poll should read… Has Potter proved himself as an NRL Coach? I'd say the jury is out. Its one thing to do ok in Super League. Cutting it in the NRL is a different story.

Its hard to say with all the injuries, but he's gotta work on motivating the lads and keeping them in the right frame of mind. He's made some really weird calls and I think a lot of our players are still a bit iffy about him. You need to trust that your coach is able to make the best calls and no-one at the club is 100% sure of that yet.

**I don't think he's a good man-manager \ motivator.**
If it all falls in a heap at the end of the season I will not rate him much.

What are you providing as evidence of this? unless you are there at training everyday and in the sheds on game day your claim carries very little weight.

And as for your last sentence, please. The guy has been hamstrung since the moment he got the job. Whatever doom happened this yr was never going to be a reflection on him, given the the mess Sheens left, not to mention the injury toll.

No one with half a football brain could honestly rest their entire perception of Potter on this season alone given the circumstances.

Wrong. Thats the sort of talk you see at Parramatta. They've had about 3 seasons now where everyone at the club is running round saying "next year, next year, next year". A lot of people on here were saying "next year" 12 months ago as well.

He's got plenty of talent and experience to work with. Not heaps… but def enough to make his mark. He could've fired the lads up a bit better during our losing streak. The atmosphere and body language coming from the side during those 7 weeks was all wrong... esp when he dropped Benji. The way we have approached this season and reacted to losses has been a bit too over the top from within the club, at least not until our plucky win against Penrith.

... but look dont get me wrong. I want him to do well. I remain unconvinced either way. **Its my opinion, and im entitled to it.**

Seems like you are one out with your opinion!

Taking into account the doubtful roster left by Sheens, the injuries, the question mark over the support staff left by Sheens/Tigers Management, the salary cap position and the dysfunctional Board, Mick Potter has done a good job to date!

I'm a lifetime holder of minority views.

I don't think the guys are in the sheds at half time of a game we're losing really really worried about our board members. Players aren't knocking on and giving away penaties because of salary cap issues. Our defence isn't rushing quick enough because Royce Simmons forgot to mention that part of the game to them in training.

We've got a bit of form, and a few players back from injury. If the performance against the Storm is the first of what is yet to come i'll be very happy. If its just like it was with Sheens…worldbeater one week, disaster the next... I'm just gonna call it as I see it.

Potter has done a good job with an injury ravaged team and a unbalanced roster.I doubt if there is a coach that could have done a better job and not many who could have equaled it.
At the end of the season if we are still showing healthy progress i would extend his contract by another year.

Great coaches dont become great coaches halfway thru their first season.

I rate Bellamy as a pretty decent coach, his team are Premiers…..he's gotten them to quite a few GFs recently.....a few weeks back they put the cleaners thru the sharks, yet since then have had a couple of losses.
Sound familiar??

Its what happens the week after that's crucial. If we dont see the same effort as we saw against the Storm against a decent but totally beatable Sharks side for me its more of the same of what we had under Sheens. World beaters one week, on holiday the next.

It happens to the best of them, but we also have the bonus of playing a lot of kids, so dont get your hopes up too high

You couldn't have said it any better. It's the tough times like these that he's going through that will make him stronger. He never cried once, never blamed the roster, never shot a referee, not like some super coaches out there. Rookie coach, champion bloke.

Couldn't agree more with both of your posts. It's absolutely ludicrous that WT committee members want to get rid of him, if true. I wish to God someone would get rid of them instead! It's like trying to succeed under the influence of the Illuminati!

My vote is no , and always has been a no

But i think that a few of the people voting no today , would have been saying yes after 5-6 losses in a row

I also think we went backwards with Potter this year , and I'm pretty certain that this season we would have new better off with Sheens .

But like all things " no pain, no gain " , I think next season and the season after that , will be the real litmus test, especially given that he has blooded so many young guys .

He is first year coach at a joint venture with all the off-field politics (both board and players) and after the 10 year tenure of the second ever most experienced coach. He has also had to deal with the worst injury crisis to his this club. We are 2 points outside the 8 (admittedly with a horrible for and against).

Those are the facts. And I think Potter is doing a pretty good job. He has brought through some very inexperienced players who are playing pretty

Not on your life…..he is doing a great job under difficult circumstances . He is also standing up to Benji who expects to get his own way always.

Interchanging Farah against Manly.

Interchanging Farah was a mistake that two state of origin coaches have made, both Daley and Stuart…

Ok maybe that wasn't the smartest move

Big deal, hes a rookie coach…at least he seems to have learnt from that....has it happened again??

7 weeks ago Potter didnt have the dressing room. It was clear the players werent listening. He made some very poor selections.

Fortunately, injury has forced his hand and he gave the young guys a go. Results followed and I am hoping with that comes support the dressing room.

He deserves to have until the end of the year. If progress is made, then there is no reason to not let him seem out his second year. If does well next year, however you measure that, then the club will resign him.

What impressed me with this weekend was that we dominated the game. We never looked like losing.

Apart from the young wingers and Teddy, our attack was still poor but at least they were willing.

Sorry, meant as a joke, like its not my smartest move to link Potter with Daley or Stuart.

I personally think Potter is already a success, bar a few blowouts I see the side is improving every week, and we are slowly building up a very capable team with a good balance of oldies and youth

I think it's been pretty easy to overlook the good that Potter has done given our 7 match losing streak and injury toll. If you pay close attention though, or take a step back to rounds 1-4, you will see the change. It was always going to take some time for Potter to get us gelling the way he wanted to, especially defensively. The injuries though only slowed the progress down as we then had to contend with half a dozen rookies who didn't really possess the confidence in their own ability yet. I'm glad to see a thread like this though because Potter HAS done well and we'll be much better for it in 2014.

Definite No for me.
I am confident they will work things out and get on with it. Micks inherited a solid base from the previous administration in which to work. But he needs to be given a fair go to see if he can get the best out of them. This is just another challenge (Benji) along the way.
