The amount of money we lose at the grounds has improved and the break even crowd number is lower than it used to be. One of the traditional grounds is better in this regard than the other.

It will be interesting what happens with the incentives to play at the larger venues now that they won't be competing with each other for content.

How does 12k at Bankwest compare to 12k at LO? any idea?

Well at present we are paid around $100k to play at Bankwest, LO is nowhere near that but is better than it was 5 years ago when we would be losing money still at 12k.

I just can't fathom the thinking of not playing full-time there. It's s lot of money.

I don't know if these deals will still be there now the stadiums are going to be managed by the same body. I think @pawsandclaws1 says we get paid less for lower drawing games at the big stadiums and that he was told that by a board member but I haven't found anything that confirms that and have been told different information. Apologies if someone else said that and it wasn't you @pawsandclaws1

We'll finally decide on playing full-time at a stadium and the deals will stop.

I am concerned about that, but the government are going to be desperate for these big spend on stadiums to have lots of content to justify the spend so the deals will hopefully remain.

They will end. Parra pay rent at Bankwest and as soon as our deal expires so will we. Maybe Mayer want so stupid signing a long deal.

i'm not sure that Parra pay rent to use Bankwest. I would be very surprised if we were being paid to play there and the Eels weren't. There would be an uproar from the eels if that was the case.

We are not really being paid to play there. It was our ANZ deal transferred to Bankwest which made sense to all parties at the time because it was pre COVID and at the time ANZ was going to be redeveloped

That is true, but I doubt the Eels would have accepted a deal where they were worse off than the Tigers. It would have been a PR diaster for the government to open Bankwest without the Eels.

It still seems ridiculous to me we get paid to use the best club stadium in the country but we have to pay to use the suburban grounds. Crazy

Basically I'm going of what I would have done if I was the Eels, it would have been a PR disaster for the government if the Eels refused to play there so I would have made them pay up big if I ran the Eels especially with the Tigers getting up to $100k to play there.

They were in a bad situation using Homebush so there was plenty of upside of going to Bankwest. Not too many options for them either.

Yeah, it would be a bluff, but its one you would win, its also why the article you linked was put out was to make it known tht the Eels were looking elsewhere because they were being treated unfairly.
