The only way "diving" is going to be stopped if refs start penalising blatant attempts to milk it. Unfortunately the NRL has painted themselves in a corner by mandating any contact to the head whether it be a stiff arm or a fingernail to the hair warrants a penalty. Common sense was thrown out with this particular rule. They could make a complete farce of it and put in place that any player who receives a penalty for a head high must go off for a HIA. Teams would have to weigh up whether a penalty is a good compensation for the disruption the HIA would cause.

I agree 100% here. It would at least stop gamebreaking players from milking penalties as no one wants to be without any of their spine for 10 minutes.

Make use of the judicary system more..they xan cite players after game for milking penalties and fine them for it....if they repeat it...ban them for a few games

The judiciary have trouble getting the big things right. I have no faith that they'll penalise players properly. Also, will they differentiate between legitimate milking and someone copping a stinger and being OK after a few seconds?

I think the mandatory HIA is the best outcome. It has an effect on the field and it's immediate. Referring stuff to the judiciary is of no benefit to the team that is being dudded as it's issued after the fact.

I agree.

But I will say this. My favourite sport is NHL - Ice Hockey in Canada and the US. They are as tough as they come and dish it out and take it. They have an embelishment rule where if the referee thinks you milked a penalty, you go to the penalty box.

We've all played the game or watched long enough (and certainly the officials have) where you can get this 99% right on the field. Everyone knows when someone is milking. Daine Laurie did, So did Momorovski moments later. Its just going stupid now.

The biggest irony is DCE - Queensland longnecked goose captain calling for a 'gentlemans agreement' in origin not to milk stuff. He IS THE UNDISPUTED milker of all time, without peer.
