The Mole: Curtis Scott on outer at Melbourne Storm, free to speak to other clubs
By The Mole

Curtis Scott was labelled as the next big thing in the centres when he helped the Storm to the 2017 premiership while still a teenager.

And at the start of this season, he was even touted as a possible State of Origin player.

But the Storm have now informed rival clubs they are free to talk to the fiery centre, despite the fact he is contracted to Melbourne until the end of 2021.

Coach Craig Bellamy dropped the former Shark two weeks ago and has told those close to him that Scott is not living up to the hype.

The 21-year-old played in the Storm’s feeder club Sunshine Coast’s 72-4 win over Souths Logan last weekend, yet failed to score a try.

His discipline off the field is also proving a challenge, another reason the Storm are considering cutting him loose.

The Storm will deny it - but he is on the market for any clubs looking for a centre.

After thinking about it for several minutes, I thoroughly believe we must sign Kyle Flanagan asap to a 5 year 3.5 million dollar contract.

Fox Sports Report just in :
Eels cult hero Maika Sivo has scored six tries in eight games, but is being paid the wage of a bricky’s labourer.
Now here’s a thought!

They said on FOX tonight, he is being paid minimum wage, $72, 500 I think, with Parra having to tie up Slimey and Gutho, supposedly we could have a shot and get lucky

Isn't the minimum wage for a top 30 player something like 100k now?

@TYGA Do we have the $$$ for Curtis Scott.

After a clean out at the end of the year, we should have some spare cash.

@Tiges19 his old boy played for Wests, stuck behind 2 halves that won't be going anywhere for a while, we could certainly have a crack.

I agree, and he kicks goals, but he recently re-signed until 2021, but contracts mean little these days

We should from next year and mid season moves are low cost as most of the salary is already paid.

@TYGA Don't forget his greatest play ever was punching the daylights out of Dylan Walker...that alone is worth a contract

Yes to Scott Isaako and Aitkin..why hasn't it been done yet surely they re jumping at the chance to pull on the Mighty Wests Tigers jumper..

Just a backorder on their sized jerseys I'd reckon

Couldn't possibly be any other logical reason

Just reading that the Mole is suggesting 4 Sydney clubs are chasing the signature of Eden Gebbie the PNG flyer playing with Wynnum Manly. This is the type of player we need to be chasing. We are never going to match it with the big clubs in attracting star players. We need to identify our weaknesses and go hard for young player that are looking to break in to NRL. We should be looking to get these type of players on reasonable contracts and back them up with solid first graders. By all means go for the superstars but have a Plan B when they turn up their noses at us.

There is a problem with that theory. I agree we should be trying to sign emerging talent in specific positions.

But if 4 other Sydney clubs are doing the same thing, well suddenly that's a crowded market and very possibly you lose the cost/bargaining efficiency you were hoping for.
