I can't speak for Richo but can only assume he's aware of the situation. I got my info from the mystery halfback in question. Who knows who knows what but my guess is Richo has an inkling.
I reckon we table the offer . It’s a life changing amount of money . If Galvin doesn’t re-sign it is honestly not the end of the world .
I thought when we lost teddy that actually felt like a huge hole to fill . And I felt that way at the time .
And the roosters built a team around him that we probably should have .
I feel that if we hadn’t taken the hit last year and put a lot of players on the development fast track , then Galvin leaving would be an issue . But we did , so now there’s way more players closer to only replacing him , but thriving if given the opportunity . Fainu of course is the main guy . Do I think Galvin is a 1 mil halves player . Yea probably (thanks Newcastle you morons) , but do I agree that he’s a generational player . I dunno … maybe . It’s not like when Ponga or Benji or Joey or even Cam smith came in , and it was like wow look at this guy . I don’t get that feeling . Probably because I’m not seeing the 25 year old version I’m seeing the 19 year old.
All we gotta do as a club is identify and build these kids up and just keep moving forward . It looks like a lot of the Campbelltown kids don’t all have that undying loyalty to the club they followed all their life . Which is hugely on brand for my knowledge of the area , and hasn’t really changed much from when I was a teenager .
Much like teddy , Israel , the large brothers , Hoffman etc. these gun kids lured away because we were a shit fight of a club and let our geographical footprint have other clubs capture these kids hearts .
We are lucky with Talyn because he’s a tigers die hard. So we are going to have to lean into that and not exploit it. Like previous management would’ve . Like it or not wests have a reputation for being not very good and a bad pathway in junior footy . This obviously extends to the wests tigers parent club . We have to fix and change this narrative . And it’s going to take time .
It sux but if a guy wants to go and you’ve done everything you can to keep him , then it is what it is . For once though , I honestly don’t think the club operations is apart of the issue . Its legacy failure of the 2010s that is still affecting the club today . We just have to keep pushing forward build a strong club and team .
To be fair to Galvin he kinda came out of nowhere . The large brothers were the future and was talked about on here since they were 15 and 14 . Before onitoni ran that 100m race …. And then they weren’t . Not just because they signed with manly . On field performance kind of backs that up as well … it’s a very fickle sport and players can make leaps and regress out of nowhere . Matamua is another star kid who has fallen away . Who would have thought that when he debuted a few years ago ? He looked like he had it …. Until he didn’t ..
