Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Makasini and Taupau-Moors fit the height, size, fitness and speed description, Ethan Roberts fits the description and as you say the Taotua brothers and Lachlan Broederlow also fit the description.
The Taotua brothers and Broederlow are frustrating as they always show glimpses of using their size and athleticism to their advantage, but seem to fade in and out of games and fade in and out of using their aggression to advantage.
Big year for all 3 of them as they are good enough to push for NRL in the 2nd half of the 2026 season, but if they don’t put in 💯 they will be out the back door.
Makasini and Tapau-Moors and Roberts will make it. The others, I have my doubts.

Not sure of Herbert’s injury record but he looks pretty fit and strong judging by his training photos. His trial game wasn’t bad at all - some aggressive D and intent in A. Obviously Star will struggle at some stage and Benji now has an option with Herb if needed. It’s not an unreasonable move to sign him if he’s shown the right attitude.

The biggest problem for him is that he had a few brain explosions and I think it really effected him not just a few injuries

The Titans semi comes to mind it was not a brain fart it was Sh!tt!Ng the bed

I suppose only time will tell if he’s had time to reflect while he’s been out of the NRL. Hopefully he understands what is required if he wants to take full advantage of this last chance. Maybe it will be a mental challenge for him more than a physical one.
Fingers crossed that he contributes to the club in KOE or in NRL if called on.

CTM needs to add another 7-8kgs before he has any real power or athelticm. He's a scrawny tall kid at the moment, like Seyfarth when he first came into the squad.

I have very low expectations for Roberts currently. He reminds me of Steve Tindall. A big guy, solid work ethic but no punch whatsoever.

Broaderlow doesn't seem to have the attitude. Been around the top 30 for a while now and seems a way down the pecking order. Could be an impactfl prop if he puts his mind to it
Gee I hope you don’t talk football at parties

Waste of a spot. Why bother promoting him? He hasn't earned a one year deal, and definitely not a 2 year deal. If Naden wasn't needed then why is Herbert? They're the same player.
Yea, ah Who?

I mean seriously we are singing some no-name backs.

Wayne Bennett said it best "you can loose anyone, as long as you are upgrading".
Naden -> Herbert?, Downgrade.

Jack Bird is a better alternative and offers more versatility.

I can only think Benji may be pumping the cap OR Naden/Bird were problematic at training...
Herbert would be dirt cheap... That's all I can think of what's going for him.

I wouldn’t be looking to debut CTM this year. It’s fine for backs and dynamic edge players to debut at 18,19 but middle are a completely different case.

Last thing you want is a young prop coming in and getting dominated by fully grown experience NRL players and losing confidence. Other than the extreme exceptions, I wouldn’t debut a prop until atleast 20 years old.

Most props don’t become consistent first graders until 22-24 years old (eg. Terrell and Sione)
Yep, give him time to fill out and grow into his body whilst playing flegg. Godinet also needs at least a year to fill out.
They're decent prospects but wouldn't be close to first grade elsewhere. We shouldn't rush them and I don't think Benji will.
Masi is different. Even Andrews may debut, has the physical traits to get a game or two early on

Isn't Herbert half the price of Naden?

If they are the same player, and you get 50% discount, what is your issue exactly?
