Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Walkers got no chance of getting a release, he may be able to squeeze a few more dollars out of Souths if he is lucky, but Souths will not let him walk he has a binding contract that would need Souths consent to break

Don't won't walker, good player but we've just went through this whole Moses saga and I'd hate to have a player with an attitude like that. You've signed a contract stick to it mate. NRL really needs to do something about this!

**JOSH Dugan’s NRL future just became a lot clearer.**

The St George Illawarra Dragons fullback looks destined to continue his career at another club, after the Red V admitted they are unable to meet his contract demands.

Dugan and the club have been involved in protracted contract negotiations and it seems they are well apart when it comes to a new deal.

Dragons’ Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward admitted exactly that on the club’s website, hinting that Dugan would not have a future at the club, unless he changes his current demands.

“We’ve been in negotiations with Josh since November last season,” Millward explained in a video on the club’s website.

“It’s been an ongoing process, but we’ve been advised by his management that they have a rival club that has made a significant offer.

“They’re very high expectations for us to meet, both the length of the contract and the salary.

“We’re not in a position at the moment to meet those high expectations.”

That rival offer is believed to be from St George’s local rivals, Cronulla, and the deal is said to be over four years, at close to $1 million per season.

Fox Sports NRL reporter says he feels Dugan is just about out the door at the Dragons.

“The Dragons have essentially been blown out of the water,” Hooper told NRL Tonight.

“They are not going to compete with the offer from the Cronulla Sharks.

“Wait and see where Josh decides to go, but at the moment if it is about money, I think we’ll see him join the Sharks.”

I'm so confused. Why would Cronulla go for Dugan if they have Holmes?

I wonder if Dugan does go to Cronulla, if we could get Holmes to break his contract and join us? Surely he would rather play fullback than centre/wing…?

Dugan will be getting fullback money, but will be playing in the centres.

I've got a source that Ricky Leutele is on the outer at the Sharks and is looking to move….. Titans have already made contact,

Would anyone want him at the club, cheap option, solid defender, has won a premiership.

Thoughts?

So it's not only the Tigers now, Souths are copping a variant of "the Moses" via Cody Walker and Dragons are copping a variation of "the Tedesco" via Josh Dugan.

I mean Drags have been negotiating w Dugan for 6 months and he won't budge, and he has found a new suitor.

I think I remember reading that the Titans have done more than make contact, he's pretty much a done deal there.

Leutele wants to return to Queensland closer to family, so Gold Coast is the only viable option.

Must've been recent, my source was told a week ago by the man himself.

Cody Walker is doing a "Semi". Got himself locked into a contract while his value is sky-rocketing. Problem for Walker is he can't really transition to Union where the big bucks are in the same way Semi can as a winger. He's stuck in league where the Rabbitohs won't release him to play for another NRL club and ESL doesn't pay very well. He won't be going anywhere. He might get a bit more cash thrown at him on an incentive basis but that's about the best he can expect.

You are correct RL to Titans was touted about 3-4 weeks ago by several news outlets

Pretty sure Sharks have released him on compassionate grounds.

That is the spin the Sharks will put on it to try and keep Holmes happy. It will be interesting going forward how this is managed.

I would love this guy to come across but this situation sounds a bit like Moses, demands something, doesn't get it and wants to leave immediately. If he has a contract that says he will play for x amount how does he think he has any right to demand an upgrade

The new gen NRL player….maybe we all better get used to it

I agree - i'm thinking WT should be using the old adage if you can't beat em join em - lets start to tear a few other clubs apart mid season by doing dirty under the table deals. I'm over this club being targeted by the media and other clubs as being a basket case while they do backdoor deals with slimy player managers. We won't be a successful club until we start to play the way the big boys do.

Nice guys finish last.

Time to take the gloves off.

We should be making a play for Aaron Gray at centre. Plenty of speed and wouldn't break the bank. I know there are better players for the position but the market is fast dwindling….

I agree - Grey would be a solid pickup

It was stated that Lolohea agreed to terms with the Tigers. However Warriors will not release him at the moment.

Doesn't this mean we have a full back then for 2018 - why would we be after Edwards for full back - maybe as a winger, Hoppa (hope not) as a centre maybe - but how many players do we need to sign to play FB.

The biggest problem is another front rower and a goal kicker imo.

The only good goal kicker is Gordon and I think he would come for a year at the right price and then go and play with his mates seeing he promised them one year.
Front row is a much bigger problem, it would be a shame to have our two new signings do all the hard work and then the replacements go backwards during their term. There is no one good enough on the market at the moment - so we need to hope that a club puts someone forward soon e.g. Tolman, Graham etc. We have Tatola and Felise in t he wings but will they be good enough, certainly Felise in 2019 but Tatola?

Interesting times ahead. We have to trust in Cleary to solve the problems, so far so good.
