As far as having a senior guy around and a good defensive coach, Flanagan is the best available and most willing to come. However, i feel quite certain his arrival comes with an Isaac Moses media driven agenda to oust Benji. Now while I have no problem with Benji being sacked, I do have a problem with another year of internal dramas. I wish Flanno was adamant ge never wants to be a gead coach again. Then I would be on board.
Do we think Flanagan would be good at setting up systems seems to have an eye for talent ?

He’s out of the 05 boys club. I’d prefer Ben Te’o personally but he will probably reunite with Wayne Bennett at Souths.

Flanagan carries angry alcoholic depressive vibes. Can imagine him cranking the Nickleback on his divorced dad rock playlist downing the VB longnecks contemplating on how the world is always against him after whatever mistake he made on that particular day.

Flanno comes with large media spin force behind him much like Benji does but from the other faction. He also has a massive ego like Benji.
For once would love us to stay out of the media for the wrong reasons over the next few years

I think we have to look at who is available to take on the assistant roll , not much by the look , so if Flanagan did get a crack t could work , we have been in a rut for 3 years with defence and attack as issues , Morris is gone so a fresh take from Flanagan and the calibre of players we have could make a difference , but we also need desperately an attack coach , we get down field no issue then go side to side , there is no ready made attack plans at all , fresh face year as well and we could be a complete different team , remember at full strength early season we were matching it with most , I still say , Taylan May , KPP and SamF out all at same time was a decisive factor , we did not have back up , Alverillo coming is good back up , Brailey coming is good back up , now we need a tough defensive and running back rower and a hard edge prop , I’m not sure if Bunty is in the plan but Hunt was very good before his injury , we need him and another with same attitude but the new guy needs to be able to go 20 minutes , any experienced assistant will help , if Flanno was at dragons next year with the players they got going there on top of the young guys who got better as year went on he would be looking like gold as I think they will go well , most likely fight for a top 8 spot ( 9-10 ) right from the start , they will be a good team

We need to ensure our coaches can relate to the playing group. Bennett has re-invented himself to remain relevant to his playing groups over the years. Some older coaches imo are unable to do it and this is where Marshall has a distinct advantage. The last type of coach we need is old school who cannot adapt to the younger generation. In addition, coaching staff should be excellent communicators and watching how Cleary sits at half time with his playing group who listen gives you an insight into what it takes to be successful. With demand for players very strong, we need every advantage to be successful.

Why not? The last two years have proven he wasn’t the problem. I wonder how many are willing to man up and apologise to the guy.

1 more year at the Bunny's and then retire.

Flanagan said after he left the Dragons he’d never want a head coaching job again. He said he'd
love be an assistant somewhere but never again the head.

The way he looked at the presser the week before he was sacked, I don’t doubt it. He was a broken man. A lot of coaches react differently . There’s the time Matthew Elliott held his tie up representing a hanging. I’ve never seen a coach on the verge of tears like that though. Probably not willing to put himself through it again.

Well if that true then he seems like the right guy for the job. If he is genuine is just being a sidekick and experienced voice for Benji then it could work. Buggest issue i see is then is Benji himself. I really feel like he wouldn't want Flanno and we all know how Benji is if he doesnt get his way.
If we had Flanno run defence and get Sultana or Sandercock to help Benji run the attack we may improve somewhat.
Personally I think we should just rip the band aid off now and appoint Brad Arthur to a 3 year deal as head coach.
