Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Maybe we can go raid the Broncos,

So far they have Kahu, Boyd, Roberts, Glenn & Ofahengaue.
And also the Jack Birds signing, which we are assuming to be big.

So far their 2018 backline players: Boyd, Roberts, Kahu, Oates, Mead, Moga, Bird, Nikorima & Milford.
They can't keep them all.

I imagine they will keep Boyd because he is a rep player.

I think they will keep Kahu for his versatility and goal-kicking, although we may pinch him because Milford can also kick goals.

I don't think they can keep Roberts, and if we offer him enough I don't think Broncos can match us.

This is Broncos who have an unlimited salary cap, but why not at least try to get some players.

You know, James Roberts is _**still**_ off-contract.

Mahe Fonua and Corey Thompson aren't officially signed but are strongly rumoured to come. I've heard Tui Lolohea could come in 3 weeks if the Warriors find a suitable replacement.

I agree we should go for James Roberts because we need his speed and strength to get through defence lines. The only problem with this is that he could ask for an expensive contract of nearly up to 800K if he is picked for origin and if he keeps up this good form for the rest of the year. Joe Ofahangue is a rising star so I wouldn't have a problem if the Tigers sign him. Jai Arrow can be a good player off our bench considering he can play lock, centre or in second row. Jordan Kahu is a long shot as the Broncos want him to stay but we can try getting Jonus Pearson. If you watched the Broncos in the finals last year they played Pearson on the wing and he had good speed and footwork. The commentators also said that people called him the next 'Jharal Yow Yeah'. We all know how good he was.

Think it's obvious we aren't interested in a marquee centre. Seems we're going the value route in order to stack the pack.

We should defiantly be chasing James Roberts and I agree we should try and get these players or at least drive there price's up…

SMH reporting the dogs wanted the cap raised at meeting during the week, other clubs voted to keep cap at a managable level. The dogs signed Brown from the sharks during the week, now not counting Reynolds and Hoppa who are off contract, will need to shed 1 million.
Story says Eastwood, Mbye, Graham and Morris boys are named being bandied around. We should try and get both Morris boys, that would fix a heap of issues.

We should be looking at there next level players, guys like ( backs ) Jamayne Isaako, Tom Opacic, Gehamet Shibaski,( forwards ) Matiun Love-Henry, Sam Lavea. Francis Molo and Jayden Su'a more likely to get a few of these guys then there top level players.

Why couldn't we sign Dugan to play centre? Much better than Fonua…

Because we sign crap…nothing will change here

It's honestly frustrating We have so much money, yet we are going after guys like Fonua, Thompson and Ottio. I understand that quite a bit of money has been spent already, but surely we should be looking at other options that are at least playing in NRL level? Hoppa, Chambers, Gagai? They were all on the market for our taking.

There's a reason Fonua, Thompson and Ottio aren't playing at NRL level yet. Our club will forever settle on reserve grade standard players in the hopes that they come good. And in the rare instance that one of those players do come good, they get poached by other NRL clubs… (Addo-Carr, Koroibete, Austin, Taupau, etc)

Incorrect - the 4 you named did not want to stay.

Pretty sure Addo-Carr and Taupau wanted to stay but we couldn't place a competitive offer and we let Austin go to keep Moses. Nevertheless, proves my point even further. We bank on youngsters and reserve graders until they come good, and when they do we either can't afford their new value, or they want to move onto a more prestigious club. Then the cycle continues, we buy more reserve graders and youngsters… We never learn

The word is Luke Lewis wants to play on, he is 33 and still going great, the sharks can't afford him, for 1 year he would be great to have
