Matheson Johns - Centre from Penrith who made the NSW Resdients team last year

Brendan O'Hagan - NSW under 20s Halfback from 2018 who played 17 games with mounties last year

Add some strong young players to the NSW Cup squad to work with our developement players

I posted a few hours ago Ohagan was sighted with Jenko and Mck having a few beers.

You can't be serious. He would not have made a ""massive"" difference. Did you check out the head to head stats that CB posted on (I think) page P2611 re CT and AD ?

At best AD is a minor upgrade on CT at full back. AD adds a ball playing option and a kicking option. CT is a superior ball runner and defender (based on tackles missed).

If AD wants $600k next year and a four year deal, then I can understand why we have walked away.

I am serious. Let’s see how you feel later in the season ***when he’s playing great footy for another club*** and we’re in our usual spot outside the 8.

Have you forgotten why he may be available to us? if he doesnt sign with another club, he supposedly has been told he will be riding the pine behind the likes of Dane Gagai.

If he doesnt find a new clubm he will not even be starting at Souffs.

he is good player no doubt, covers a lot of positions pretty well, definitely an upgrade on CT...but how much do you pay? Im glad the club has limits.

For everone who is bitching that the club hasnt just thrown the money at him and met his demands.......no other club has either.

He’s available to us because they have Latrell at 1 and Walker at 6. I don’t think it’s a reflection of his ability or potential. Souths have a stacked backline. They can’t keep everyone.

We should only accommodate Douehi if the price is right and not make the mistake of paying overs

I really like AD as a player and he seems to be a sensible kid off the field as well but I am like some others And think he needs to do a little more to command top dollar.

In saying that, WT is not currently a club of choice and I believe we are going to pay overs to attract talent. Those overs should be capped at around 10%.

In AD’s case, I value him around 400K meaning we may need spend up to 440K to get him. Given he wants a four year deal, I would offer him 440K guaranteed with a review after 2 years provided he meets certain KPIs (@wokesmoke could perhaps give some examples) or gets rep selection.

The review is capped at 50% above his current contract but once executed and the review accepted, the club gets a years option in its favour.

This way AD gets his extended contract, is incentivised to do well and the club is protected from paying exorbitant amounts.

Anyway - just a thought

No need for a review or KPI's, if its a two year contract, the market sets the price. If he proves himself he will get the big bucks from us or somewhere else.

Wests have moved their focus onto BJ Leilua and Adam Doueihi and gaining scrutiny for not looking to be more flexible during negotiations.

When asked about spending on the open market, Maguire was adamant the Tigers will stand strong.

The club has copped a hiding over signing players for overs, and now they're copping the toe again for not wanting to pay overs.

Read that. Article is from Paul Crawley he is mates with Wayne Bennett and does write positively about Madge. I’d say he knows the story closely.

Tigers can’t overpay for Douehi he’s a centre or 5/8. Not superior to even Corey Thompson at fullback. We need players but a high priced utility I’d leave with Souths unless the price comes down.

Doesn’t look faster to me. He’s definitely less elusive. Doesn’t match Thompson for heart and effort (though few could). Doesn’t match him in support play as a consequence.

Just returned from an ACL. Teddy didn’t look as fast when he returned after his ACL In his first year either. Takes a while to get back to full fitness. Disagree on heart and effort, Douehi put his body on the line and tried his guts out every week. Can’t ask for more than that.

He’s a better defensive organiser than Thompson, has a much better passing game, is much safer under the high ball and is an additional 5th tackle kicking option. And he’s 21 and yet to reach his peak. Thompson is 30.

Just wondering, did you watch all of his games? Or was that from the highlights?

I’ll even go so far as to say Souths recruiting is far worse since Madge left.

Ours has been abysmal since he arrived.

Although hes cleaned up a huge mess.

Can spin it however u want.


Stefano, brilliant, Musgrove, great, Leilua, great, let’s see how Seyfarth and Talau go, could be great, Momo, good, let’s wait and see what else he has in store.

I just find it interesting that if Bennett rates a Douehi so much why was he the first player to be shown the door after they signed Mitchell? Douehi has more upside than both Johnston and Gagai, who are heading towards the end of their careers, why wouldn’t they have been tapped on the shoulder first instead?

Long term reader finally made an account this news on AD has me fuming firstly AD is a 21 year old spine player who is on 500-600k on his current deal that is the average pay for a member of the spine why is the ceo having a nightmare about this price but when his best mate ivan puts 29year olds on 750k + deals he is fine with it ? You can see whats going to happen already AD ends up at storms even tho he wants to be a tiger and JAC ends up with the rabbits as it is the heart of his culture... who do we end up with a winger playing fullback who is 30 years old, nothing against CT but long term he isnt the answer to our fullback if the AD doesnt get done im going to tweet at mr pascoe every day till he stands down.

Your point being? They play completely different positions and ONE of them has bproven himself for years in the toughest comp in the world winning two Dally M Centre of the YEar awards in 4 years. The other on has played only 30 games proven nothing and wants $500-$600 pa for years 2-4.
