I think Alex Johnson is nowhere near a top tier full back and does not solve our full back problem.

He is a very good winger but the dragons made him look brilliant last night by leaving him space outside them.

Sadly for him I think he is an out and out winger, not a fullback at all. Much like Val Holmes who considered himself to be a fullback also, but was put back on the wing by the Cowboys before his injury because that’s where he plays best. Getting some good money playing on the wing though mind you.

I don’t think Johnston is a good fullback. Would offer just as much as Doueihi if not less, he is fast but doesn’t have the playmaking and safe hands of Doueihi

Getting some good money playing on the wing though mind you.

Valentine Holmes was in the conversation with Tedesco and Trbojevic as the most dangerous attacking player in the game at the back end of 2018. He has it in him to be an elite fullback. He was only put on the wing by the Cowboys because he was brought back from injury early and it was meant to limit the risk of re-injury (that worked out well!)
Johnston on the other hand has never shone at fullback, despite being given a number of opportunities there over the years. He's a good winger though, I agree.

I saw Johnston get interviewed last week, he said, I don't care where I play, I like fullback, but I am just happy to play where best suits the team

He probably did run for over 300m but that included 2 runs of 80-90m each off intercepts. He picked off pretty telegraphed passes by Dufty and Sailor (in sailor's defence they were desperately chasing points at the time, Dufty's pass was just a bad one).

The good thing about AJ would be that he can fill in at FB, but is a great winger. At the moment, our fb depth is Mbye who may be out at the end of his contract.

I've read so many times on hear that Nofa was the 2nd fastest in the NRL that I've forgotten if it's a joke or true. He seems pretty fast to me.
