Welcome to Brownsville Benji

Gosh, they’re giving us a hiding in the media..

Brad Fittler is shocked that Wests couldn’t find a spot for Ryan Papenhuyzen at the club, stating the Tigers “got it wrong” on several decisions in recent years, per The Sydney Morning Herald.
Papenhuyzen, Josh Addo-Carr and James Tedesco will all come together for the first time as Blues players under Fittler on Thursday, having all departed Leichhardt in recent years.
Wests Tiger fans get constantly reminded about stars that got away, with some decisions the club have made in recent years amongst the worst.
Nine years without playing finals football and their Origin representative, Harry Grant, was on loan from the Storm.
Papenhuyzen was at Balmain before the 22-year-old chased his NRL dream with the Storm as Billy Slater was coming to the end of his career.
“I was disillusioned when the Wests Tigers couldn’t find a spot for him,” Fittler said of Papenhuyzen.
“There were a few [decisions] there where whatever they did during that period, it was just wrong.
“So someone got it wrong, whoever it was, and I don’t care.
“He [Papenhuyzen] has been awesome. Before the grand final I asked him, ‘Mate, how are you going to get your speed in with it being so wet?’
“And he just said, ‘I’ll find a way’. And when he took off for that [second-half] try … he found a way.”
Tedesco and Papenhuyzen both exited the club in 2017 and went on to win premiership silverware.
“I think that’s happened a lot,” said Tedesco, when asked about good players departing Concord. “Josh Addo-Carr has also won a few premierships now. But what can you do?”
Addo-Carr started at the Tigers but, like Papenhuyzen, left for Melbourne where he has won two titles.
The Tigers are now wanting to bring back Addo-Carr, who is hoping for a return home.
Addo-Carr said after the grand final he was bound for Sydney in 2021, but “no other team is like Melbourne”.
Papenhuyzen, who took out the Clive Churchill Medal on Sunday night, told the Herald he wouldn’t have been half the player he is today if he didn’t head to Melbourne.

I think we should make a very attractive offer to Tedesco before Roosters resign him. Something along the lines of Latrells offer, 5 years or more. The fact the Roosters are looking at Suali should raise concern of Teddys long term future. Cant hurt?

I suggested this months ago and got shot down. Yet the same people who shot me down still think Harry will stay after he’s confirmed over and over that he’s going back to the Storm

With Tedesco, I’d withdraw the offer to JAC and off Teddy 1.5 million, a position on the board, stakes in the club, anything it took to bring him back. Won’t happen, but it doesn’t hurt to dream.

We will not get tedesco unfortunately I wish we could though.
Why can't we load up the big offer for Grant make it hard for him to take a melbourne offer.

because until smith retires there is nothing to offer for next year....and Grant has to say he is returning because he is obligated to.

But come nov 1 there is nothing to stop us loading up a contract for him for 2022....

Isn't he already contracted for 2022

I thought it was only for next year but had a clause to get a release if smith played on??

I could very well be mistaken....

He does have a clause, but just because it’s there doesn’t mean he’ll automatically activate it. The appeal of being apart of a premiership winning side probably negates Smith playing on.

I get it GNR4LIFE you don't rate Grant a SOO player and would be satisfied with Liddle and putting the money elsewhere

Now you're just making stuff up - i never saw anywhere that GNR doesn't rate Grant. what i have seen is the fact that he keeps saying Grant is contracted to Melbourne until the end of 2022 and he ( Grant ) has constantly said he is returning to Melbourne. **Your obsession with Grant is way over the top**.

Will keep on repeating this - I don't think people truly understand how good Grant is. If it helps the loss, call it over the top.

I am a huge fan of Liddle, and while people have been calling for us to cut him through all his injuries I've always wanted us to persist with him. He has shown he is a very good player whenever he has been on the field for us. Totally happy with him owning that jersey, and seeing what Simpkin can do.

But Grant is different class.

I hold no hope of him sticking with us at all, and do agree it's not a position we are in desperate need of - however I don't think it's a given he will be in Melbourne. Yes he has said it, but that's because his contract currently says that. I just can't see him and Brandon Smith playing 2nd fiddle to the GOAT Smith.

If Cam Smith plays on, and Grant truly enjoyed his time with us - another year loan doesn't sound farfetched to me.

Grant is good, but I think he was seriously overplaying his hand towards the end of the year. I am not going to say Liddle is better, but he is good.

Smith was a dominant player at Melbourne, but he was smart and subtle (right place, right time, right decision). Grant looked almost desperate at times and took too much on himself rather than feeding others.

Was still our best player by a good margin, if he wasn’t jumping out of Hooker and creating things we would’ve gone even worse. The kid is a freak and will be origin hooker for a long while, they’d be stupid to pick friend or hunt over him

The sad thing is Grant was not named our best player, a SOO player and probably test player too yet he didn't get out player of the year

To be fair it’s off a points system and he missed a couple weeks due to injury. Nofa didn’t miss a game I think and was always very good.

Josh to be fair Grant was not a SOO player then (still isn't at this stage) and I'm not sure but being a probable test player as well aren't criteria for picking Rookie of the year. Personally I'm hoping Grant gets picked for QLD - would be more worried this year if Friend is selected.

Will be interesting to see who they pick. For me it’s between Harry or Hunt

Bennett is very conservative picking teams so i would expect Friend to get the hooking job for the first game

Jad so you think Friend and Hunt on bench ? or do you think Grant gets a bench spot ?

9 - Friend
14 - Hunt
No Grant

Look Bennett will bring Grant into the camp and pick Hunt. Why? because Hunt is a player he knows and has a relationship with. (as it turns out Bennett has picked Hunt at 17 with Friend at 9.

We deserve a hiding hahaha look at the amount of players we have failed to retain who are killing it at others clubs and we haven’t made the finals in 8 years if you don’t think we should be copping it you have Fallen to mediocrity please Madge save us

regardless of how horrendous the telegraph may be, I think Suaalii will end up at the rorters, irrespective of whether or not it's the right fit.

of course he will

Uncle Nick gets who Uncle Nick wants whenever he wants them. PERIOD.

Doueihi turned down roosters to join us didn’t he?

He wanted the 1 or 6 jumper, no chance at the chooks, just like Suali, unless they chop Teddy or Keary

Or move Keary to 7 and then bring Suali to 6.
Depends where Suali sees his best position....Or where his agent sees his position.

Really the kid is still a kid. Like this is ridiculous.
I get the feeling too that the kid will get the Nick treatment. A star or Stars will be involved, his family will all have jobs with Nick organisations and he will accept a 500k or less contract. It is just sad. I can only hope he fuzzes after getting a big juicy Nick contract.

But then where does Sam walker fit into that, roosters have such big raps on him one of them would have to go
Walker or Keary ?

Okay... lets see.
Luke Keary who took them to 2 premiereships and had Cooper Cronk admire his playing ability. OR
Sam Walker...

The fact that you had Kyle Flanagan and Lachlan Lam both wear the 7 this year says a lot. Wait, do the Roosters really have 4 people who could play 7 in their stables?

Getting pretty sick of Fittler. Can someone ask him why was Penrith so crap that he left them and what it says about that club? The hypocrite did a Tedesco.

I've been over Fiittler since he took over the SOO. Gets the job after the great QLD era and acts now like he some sort of messiah. Couldn't care less if NSW lost and if so for once may enjoy seeing Bennett smirk.

There is nothing in that article to be upset about except WTs' inability to retain talent. I admit that is on the previous management and with Hartigan and Maguire at the helm we seem to be on a much better trajectory. PS I don't believe Fittler wrote the article.
