Not sure if been mentioned but Dylan Smith is with penrith now. He wasn’t even contracted to us this year was he?

He wasn’t very good mate , wasn’t bad though . He was just serviceable .... in nsw cup. I hope he toils away , you never know he might come good .
It will be hard to break in at the riff though. Still , Ivan signed him , so he must see something in him to bring him over again .

Dylan Smith signing means Penrith now have a back up fullback and can send Laurie to us pronto 🙂

With the strife going on at the Knights what would people think of going after Fitzgibbons if he comes on the market? Apparently he is not happy with Pearce, who looks to be staying (has the club’s backing via Buderus statement). Pretty good 2nd rower.

Fitzgibbon' father is connected to the Knights. Pearce has paid a high price for a poor choice. Losing his future wife must rate as the hardest punishment. I would hope his team mates are supporting him because he will need it.

Tuki at 6”4 and 105kgs on the edge... that’s in the Kikau ball park. Would be a nightmare for some halfbacks. Hope he comes good

Add Steff ,JO,and others i don't think we will have problems gaining meters this year,it may take awhile to get the combinations right, but i'm confident Simkin or Liddle will give them good ball.

Fitzgibbon's father is the head of NiB isn't he?

Problem Pearce has with some of his team mates is the bird he was sexting was in a relationship with a former Knights Jnr who is very very close mates with some of the first grade squad. Those team mates are definitely not taking his side. Also I live in Newy and have a fair few Knight's fans mates. Fitzgibbon is a defensive liability according to most said fans. A fair few Newy fans are of the opinion that if his old man wasn't CEO of NIB who are the major sponsor, and also a former club director, then Lachlan would never have been anywhere near first grade (or have been picked in all the club Jnr sides going through)

He looked good for the first couple of games in FG, hard man to bring down 1v1 could have been a good try scoring 2RW, but since then has been very inconsistent and I agree his defence is terrible, imo Garner is a better player.
In regards to Pearce, his best games have been for QLD SOO.
Let's take a wide berth of both and let the Knights suffer.

I honestly believe Fitzgibbon is no better than Garner. Maybe a slight upgrade at best

Lets hope Garner has a better year with this improved coaching and develoment unit,i think he will,he has the that Steve Menzies running style that i like. All posts think his defence is the problem, i hope they fix it because he has talent.

Yeah I like Garner, clear he has the right attributes just seems lazy. This year might be his final chance to prove himself though so hopefully he gives it his best shot (if manly hasn’t got him)

Breaking:

Wests Tigers sign Tukimihia Simpkins

Wests Tigers have today confirmed the signing of promising young forward Tukimihia Simpkins, effective immediately, after he was granted a release from the final year of his contract with the North Queensland Cowboys.

“Tuki” Simpkins has signed a three-year contract with the club that will see him feature in Wests Tigers colours until at least the end of the 2023 NRL season.

In addition to the signing of Simpkins, Wests Tigers have confirmed that Kane Bradley has been released from the final year of his contract to join another club.

Standing at 192cm and topping the scales at 105kg, the 19-year-old edge forward is viewed as a rising prospect in rugby league having transitioning from rugby union in Rotorua. Simpkins was initially spotted at the 2016 New Zealand U/15 Rugby League National Championships and has spent the last 12 months in the North Queensland system.

Wests Tigers General Manager – Football Adam Hartigan expressed his delight to secure Simpkins on a long-term contract.

“Tuki is clearly an exceptional talent and we’re very excited to see him play his football in a Wests Tigers jersey moving forward,” Hartigan said.

“Tuki will add a lot to our forward pack over the coming years, and adds to the already talented young squad we’re building for the future of Wests Tigers.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe welcomed Simpkins to the club and thanked Bradley for his service over the past two years.

“On behalf of all at Wests Tigers, I’d like to welcome Tuki to the club and say how pleased we are to have secured his services long-term,” Pascoe said.

“As a club, we’re all looking forward to watching him take next steps in his development in a Wests Tigers jersey.

“I’d also like to thank Kane for his efforts since joining Wests Tigers in 2019,” Pascoe said. “He is a fine young man, and we wish him all the best in the next steps of his career.”

Simpkins will join his new Wests Tigers teammates when training resumes on Thursday.

Cowboys will be spewing.

Except that they released him in swap for Bradley.

I’d still be spewing if I’m a cowboys fan. Bradley never stood out to me.

I thought they had resigned him for 3 years - he was promoted to their top 30 last year.

I'm not sure that his ethic is his problem, he just doesn't seem to want to put his head in harm's way (can't really blame him), until he learns how to defend sideways he will always be a bench/reserve player. If he sorts that out I think he can be very good 1st grader.

I think pairing up with Benji is always a 2nd rowers nightmare in defense. Garner always looked better next to Brooks imo, highlighted by his 2019 season

Definitely not an ideal situation for him last year, agree Brooks pairing makes much more sense on both sides of the ball. Brooks to Garner short ball can be really effective whereas Lucy needs more room to operate.

So, does anyone think the Mansour, Cini, Laurie deal is back on given we have just released a back?
I know it’s against popular opinions here but I think signing Mansour would be a very wise move providing you get Laurie.

Bradley was listed as a 2RW this year, so probably has no bearing.

I think they were referring to Dylan Smith signing on at Penrith.

As another FB it does clear the way to release Laurie and I’m happy to get Mansour with him.

The club is aware that moving him from his preferred side of the field impacted his form last year. I think he will get an opportunity to redeem himself this year.

Ah okay, we didn't release Dylan though he was off contract.

Off contract and not being re-signed.
