Walsh and Turner were trading places, so the Broncos would still have a spot left for Billy.

Never heard of Turner, and not really interested

So the broncos have Reece Walsh as a Dev player.
The Warriors Paul Turner is in the Warriors top 30 and the swap according to the Warriors was for a like for like.
However the Broncos have 29 of their 30 squad players with position 30 reserved for Billy Walters.
That’s why the wacko was suggesting that deal.
Of course it means nothing if Paul Turner has already signed with the Broncos for next year.

Naysayers ? That’s an interesting way to look at it . I saw a guy get to his kicks , and shift early to benji and Lattrell .
I didn’t see anything worth 1 mil a year . Which is what it would cost .

Would it? $1.4 mill over 2 years is the current offer.

He'd be worth that.

What do we do with brooks ? Offload to the boys ? Also what do we do in 2024 ? Is madden gonna wait ? Is there a junior coming through ? Not saying I hate it . Just there’s a lot to sort out , the future 3 years from now the most important . Plus you all know I’m pro brooks .

The question is not what do we do with Brooks but what does Brooks do for us

I get why people want him to do well, but come on enough already. It was Farahs fault, no it was be benjis fault , its the coach, it’s the forwards, now it’s the backs. He has come out and said it’s his team. He’s the main man. If he can’t deliver time to cut our losses.

I thought I made heaps of valid points. Brooks didn’t do well because

1. Farah stifled him and service was too slow
2. Benji was the dominant half and Brooks was too shy

He’s been through 3 coaches and no finals with any.

My main point is no more excuses. He is our guy. , he is the man in control. Step up Brooks and seize your opportunity or it’s time to move on. I watched the game with 10 blokes who go for 3 different teams and not one of them would have Brooks in their team.

How anyone could possibly want Folau is beyond me.

Why? We are short on backs and the guy is as good an athlete as you will find.

Hasn’t played NRL in 10 years and would be a PR disaster. Would be a shocking decision.

If our main sponsor has left the door open then maybe it’s a possibility. Played super league last year .

Who cares - we are not a retirement/superannuation home anymore - unless we sign Reynolds that is.

Reynolds is 30, and despite what some people are sprouting he is not injury prone, check how many games he has missed through injury, it is not many at all.
And if people thinks he is not an upgrade, well I have been watching different games to them, he offers a lot of what we don’t have but desperately need.
Souths cap for 2023 is just about tapped out, that is the sticking point on the second year, no conspiracy theory

And yeah he’s missed stuff all footy through injury but the concern and why I think Souffs offered him 2 years with a club option is his back. All it takes is one more bad collision and he could be forced into early retirement

He doesn't have a bad back. He's always had to manage his hammies but he's otherwise sound. If he signs for next season with Souffs he'll be their captain and half, same for 2023. It's cap management, that's it. I know you mentioned previously the players around him make him look good, does that include Benji in last nights game? I'd suggest it's the other way round.

Mitchell Pearce played 10 years at the Roosters and most of that time was NSW's half. Roosters punted him for Cronk and won two GF's in a row. That's the difference a champion half makes. Reynolds is next level to Brooks.

I am all for wearing the Magpies or a Black version of our jersey this weekend
I think it's a great idea to honour and pay tribute and respect to a great footy player, an icon of our game and of Western suburbs and Newton
A player that ultimately help forge the club that we are today
He was a true character of our game
He should be celebrated and respected by all at our club including supporters
People have to remember he never wore a Balmain jersey but he is still part of our history now with the merged clubs

The funny thing about that is the complaints about Farah and Benji were from fans who held grudges against them and used Brooks need to lead as an excuse to get rid of them. If you asked him he probably enjoyed playing with both of them because as skilled dominant players they took the pressure of him.

The funny thing about that is the complaints about Farah and Benji were from fans who held grudges against them and used Brooks need to lead as an excuse to get rid of them. If you asked him he probably enjoyed playing with both of them because as skilled dominant players they took the pressure of him.

Brooks played his best footy with Farah there in 2018 and 2019 if you look back at it

If Benji can hold his own in a quality side so could Brooks. The magic answer is not in recruiting or sacking one player. If the top 6 sides don't prove that you just don't want to see it.

Oh wow. It is *never* Brooks' fault. I feel so sorry for him! Such an amazing player surrounded by losers. We should pay him more to thank him for sticking with us. He's a fine player but he's not winning anyone a competition.

I'm not suggesting for a minute that Brooks shouldn't own his faults - I've been just as frustrated by him. But also don't believe for a minute that his faults are the reason for our lack of success or that removing him and replacing him alone will bring success. It's a bandaid solution. The quality/talent in the competition is mostly concentrated in five/ six sides and we are not one of them that is currently our biggest problem.

But why does replacing Brooks = bandaid solution? If we get a better player in his position and address other areas of need over the next two years (realistically what it will take) then wouldn't we still be a better team in the long run?

For me it’s a bandaid solution because of the fact it’s 2 years . If we don’t have a plan to succeed him , which could be madden FYI, then we are in a way worse situation , akin to the one we were in when Craig field fell out of form early 2000s . We then rolled out , BeN black , Ben Jeffries , Jolly , etc etc . We then took a huge risk on a busted Scott Prince . It worked out , but that was widely critiqued at the time . Plus it was 2-3 years as well , and we the. Went with Morris and Fitzhenry until Lui came along . We need to be methodical about it . And not so emotional.
I hope brooks proves everyone wrong , that’s my plan A , so plan B if it’s Reynolds , then that has to go hand in hand with either Madden , or whoever else has been identified as the future . Then a distant 3rd is the Hastings rubbish .

Yeah, it seems there's no really good other option long-term atm unless a Schuster came available.

Schuster is playing 2nd row at the moment! I don't think he plays half-back he does play five-eight but we have Douiehi are you suggesting we replace Brooks with a five-eight/back-rower.

I didn’t see anything worth 1 mil a year . Which is what it would cost .

What do we do with brooks ? Offload to the boys ? Also what do we do in 2024 ? Is madden gonna wait ? Is there a junior coming through ? Not saying I hate it . Just there’s a lot to sort out , the future 3 years from now the most important . Plus you all know I’m pro brooks .

I thought I made heaps of valid points. Brooks didn’t do well because

1. Farah stifled him and service was too slow
2. Benji was the dominant half and Brooks was too shy

He’s been through 3 coaches and no finals with any.

Mitchell Pearce played 10 years at the Roosters and most of that time was NSW's half. Roosters punted him for Cronk and won two GF's in a row. That's the difference a champion half makes. Reynolds is next level to Brooks.
