He’s 23, as Russell said, you have to give them a go? Front Rowers don’t normally peak until there late 20’s. He’s going OK.

I don’t necessary agree with that anymore. In fact I’d argue many of the best props in the game (JFH, Haas, Fonua-Blake, Saiifiti) aren’t in their late twenties

Tom is 23 and improving - you come back with three props that are each 25 years old. A lot can happen in 2 years, but just get rid of him. That's what I'm talkin 'bout!

I also said he should be in Reggies and work on his craft (also mentioned a few points that I thought he was deficient in).

At no stage did I mention that he should be not signed, not renewed etc. (Oh! you forgot that as well).

You seem to not remember a lot of things I said/didn't say about Simpkin. That's ok there was another poster that likes to put the boot in that couldn't help himself either.

You were so annoyed when he got selected you literally left the forum until he was dropped.

I was here all the time - I did not post, just let all the Simpkin fanboys have their say in peace. They have been relatively quiet since. He'll get his second turn, I'm sure, hopefully he has been working on his deficiencies. Look forward to him getting it together.

I'm a Liddle supporter, because I thought at the time (still do) is a better DH. Is that a crime on this Forum to think someone is a better player than another? A lot of Forumers must be criminals then, including yourself.

Not at all Russ, I think it's great you are so passionate about one of our players. I like a lot of players too, but i'd never leave the forum just because they weren't selected. I guess everyone's different..

I knew you didnt leave Russ, just letting Jake have his crack in the big arena,judge him after that...Jake has a lot of potential and I can see why he has big wraps on him.I agree with you 100 per cent that he needs more time in reggies to develop his game further and wish him the very best in his career.On Liddle,he has been pretty good these last weeks and now his fitness level is getting to where he needs to be,his game is getting back to what we all knew he was like before injuries...

Hmm i understand people's attachment to players and agree a lot with the growing ideas towards our young players. One thing i don't think our fan base does well is accept our situation. We are a bottom 8 team. We lack talent. We are poor defenisvely. We have a below-average backline and our forward back is very inconsistent.
Now the good thing is we are young but we are a long way from a panthers, melbourne etc.
We wont be able to keep our entire forward pack and fit in the young fellas coming through. So in saying that we will need to let some go. to improve our backline significantly (we may have the coin due to high-paid players etc.)

Our roster is imbalanced towards our forwards i think, which isnt a bad thing as its been an area of weakness for us for along time.

so i guess im saying we over value our players due to our attachment. IMO trading mikaele for DWZ fills an important need for us although id prefer oates or issako.

Apparently strong mail, dogs targeting mikaele for 2022 but are now trying to get him as part of the swap deal for DWZ!! Not a fan of this as mikaele is great impact for us. Hopefully we can keep him on a nice cheap contract. But we know dogs happy to pay players extras.

Don’t think mikaele would want to go to the dogs but money speaks!

Halves, Burton is good - not sure who they pair with him - Averillo would be my guess.
Talks of Flanagan being shopped and Lewis is pretty poor.

Forwards - a lot, nothing too spectacular.
Napa sucks, Elliot is weird, Jackson is a bit average these days and the rest of them aren't impressive.

I think if this is what they're asking we should leave that deal alone.

Maybe sign Renouf Atoni (off contract) to replace as MCK as our regular 18th man.

They're after Mitch Kenny apparently, he's a solid dummy half and stuck behind Korisau

Panthers premiership window is closing as the depth is departing...

Mate with all those young guys now getting origin experience and excelling I believe Penrith will be up top for a looooooong time unfortunately


The salary cap has yet to bite hard but it will, especially if they win a premiership.

they're both important for our future. Madge is all about 4 forwards on the bench at the moment, but they'll form a deadly combo in the mould of Smith & Grant in the next couple years.

Salary cap will be a problem for them they up the ante to secure Staines & Chrichton.Cleary will probably get upgraded and Laui what's he's next contract going to be worth that's just their backs.
