Can anyone explain how the Roosters pay Joey Manu 720 (reportedly) to play in the centres?

If any other team paid a centre over $500 they would be crucified.

Happens all the time. I'm not getting my hopes up, it'd be great if it comes off, but i'd certainly prefer this is played out in the background and not in the media like all our other potential signings have been.

He's the best centre in the game.
He's been there since 20s when they'd fly him over for games on the weekend without even training with the team.

He's probably got other benefits other than the reported income also.

Pat Richards was around 30 when he played for us. Easts brought over a 30 year old Winger, who hasnt outshone Morris but has done OK.

We cant manage Geriatrics well. Dane Finucane was right to sign with Cronulla because their coaches worked out how to manage Gallen, Lewis and others past 30. That being said.

If the price is right and the talent is awesome. No problems here. Particularly at the 200k range where we can take a risk. Now NZ took a huge risk on a Brit fullback at the 1M mark that was beyond stupid. But if the price is right, the talent good and were missing the Hooker/fullback or whatever position I am up for it.

I’m not questioning what he gets paid. Just how the Roosters can pay a centre that whilst also paying other important positions.

They would have to have at least 1 player in every part of the field paid between 700-900k
