Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Signings guys with baggage or age is exactly what we shouldn't do. We need to front load contracts in 2022 and sign some proper quality for 2023.

Getting stuck with a curtis Scott or tariq sims would do nothing for us

Elliot is 27 and has just played 100 games.
If he was on low wage for squad depth sure.
If he was viewed as a starting forward no thanks.

He isn’t that great and comes from a losing culture. He is the signing we should be avoiding as an option for a starting spot.

Would take Simms over him anyday of the week

Both Elliot and Sims would be terrible signings. Along with Luciano they top all backrowers in the league on “try causes”. We need smarter players.

I agree we have to aim higher but reality is no one higher so far wants to come here. Simms though most of his try causes occurred in the 1st half of the season. Once SOO his form in club games was very solid defensively.

We will eventually sign quality players, when the COM becomes the COE, and when we can prove we’re moving forward in a way that enhances the reputation of everyone connected to the club.
Sacking a coach, a player or the tea lady is not going to turn our fortunes. Gosh, we’re already seen as the graveyard of players and coaches.
We’re also seen as the club where a player can get a regular first grade spot. We need to take full advantage of that and we have been, if you run through our recruiting history? Laurie, Utoikamanu, Doueihi etc. that’s our market while we’re getting our act together.

Its is still just an upgraded gym / facilities ...perspective recruits won't be interested if we are still running bottom 4 ....

What do people think of Adam Elliott. Obviously he would need to stay off the drink or learn how to handle it but he wouldnt be Robinson Crusoe their

It says much about the quality of the bloke that his teammates wanted him gone.

Elliott is an absolute lowlife and I would be gutted if the Tigers signed him.

He's not even a decent player either

12 month with club option I am ok with as an attempt to get this squad over the hump.

Big whoop Elliot loves a drink. Still plays with heart and was a young leader for that dogs side. Bring him on the cheap cause he’s just been sacked, play him off the bench as spark at 13

His teammates wanted him gone. Says everything you need to know about the bloke. He's not a leader. He's a piece of trash

Surprised our team doesn't want some of our under performers gone eh.

Thoughts on

Brooks—>Raiders
Hodgson OR Tapine —> Titans
Fogarty —> Tigers

Raiders clearly need a half, gets Brooks out of Sydney spotlight.

Tapine and his wife look like they’d suit the Gold Coast lifestyle. Big Tino has played half the year at prop and half at lock so they could accomodate both and shaft Wallace/Proctor to the bench or something.

Finally, JFog can GK, is a leader, a controlling game management half and could be left out in cold after emerge of Sexton and Campbell.

Surely GC can't afford Tapine.
Would love that swap.

Not sure about Fogarty...
Didn't he struggle when he was in Sydney briefly ?
Didn't really make it till recently.

I feel like you're definitely on the right path at least regarding trades.

Brooks for Tapine

Liddle for Doorey (Dogs)

Nofo for .... anything.
Pie and a coke, half eaten kebab.

Liddle is twice the player Doorey so the squad would be going backwards

Saw him at a gym once. Really unimpressed. So loud, aggressive, inconsiderate

And if Liddle is a coach detractor... it may do more than just improve the squad.

Team morale, coaching effectiveness, etc.

Doorey is great, big future.
Topine could be another we could inquire about.

Every hiring, every talk it's CENTER CENTER CENTER.

Unless we are talking a really solid defender who can really up our abilities, why on earth would we hire a Center!
Elliot makes more sense and to get a good pipe from the dogs forward pack makes sense.

Elliot? Are you sure?
What about Darren Senter?
Don't be fooled by his name he's not a Center.

I remember back in the day when Balmain made a triple swoop i read it in the Sunday paper, Darren Senter Sean McVean and Greg Barwick i was so happy. Darren Senter turned out pretty good the others yeah nah. Circa 1995 i think and for you youngsters the internet was in its infantcy so thats how we got our news :call_me_hand:

Fun memory of Darren Senter from 2005

We’d just pumped the bulldogs by 40 odd at ANZ Stadium & back then there was a sort of presentation after the game at the pub across the road .

Senter stood up and said “we’re going all the way this year” .

Everyone had a bit of a chuckle but he was right .

He's a good man had a few beers with him over the time at the old leagues club, happy to have a chat and a beer with the punters.
