It’s the clubthat's scary
Agreed and to be honest it has been the club at fault for 10 years.I am not saying there have not been other factors as well but basically it is the way the club has been run.All player negotiations should be done by the football department and nobody else(Lee and Pascoe not invited)
Pascoe’s only involvement should be to ensure the contract fits within the budget and to sign the contract on behalf of Wests Tigers. Otherwise yes Pascoe should stay out of it.
The interesting thing from Lee’s commentary was that that the club and football department need to be more connected so it seems the club wants to be more involved in the football department. Assume that this means the club i.e Pascoe, board were not involved before?
That's scary that they could be more involved.
Yeah i feel same and not sure what the comment really meant ?
It’s pretty simple really. Lee and Pascoe focus on all the corporate requirements etc and were of the belief that the football department can just operate with a coach and head of football and a bunch of funds on its own.
Without realising that the clubs primary business is the football department and the corporate requirements are a supplementary requirement to that.
Whether that means new managers or a change of CEO I’m not sure. But we really need a more football focused business head reporting to either the CEO or the Chairman / Board.
Ah ok. Thought it could have meant Board and CEO were shifting the blame to the football department and absolving themselves. Maybe WT run a different structure whereby the Head of Football (Hartigan) reports to the Board independently of the CEO?
Before the review, the Chairman spoke in terms of seeing the two departments and roles as very separate.
I doubt that Hartigan would report to the chairman I’d say it could be direct to the CEO or it could be to the Football Chair Danny Stapleton. But I tend to see Hartigans role as more of a office role than hands on from the outside in. But I could be wrong.
Of course what I mentioned above is my perception but you only have to look at Lee’s comments regarding Management and how separate he saw their role from the ‘football department’ I’d say through this review the feedback that have received that there should be less blame shifting and more accountability throughout the club.
