Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

NRL 2021: Bulldogs confirm Dylan Napa as one of departing players..

Napa joined the bulldog in 2019 with a deal worth more than $ 600,000 per season. He hasn’t been offered a new contract since this season — and wasn’t named Trent Barrett’s 17-year-old in a clash with the Tigers on Sunday.

Napa could be a great buy for us if he can replicate his form with the Roosters and not with the dysfunctional Dogs. Good hard front rower at his best.

What about the dysfunctional Tigers?

Should hear something in 48 hours?

Rumour is it's Dylan Napa.

Wow that would be bad, would rather sign no one.

Be better than Woods. I thought Napa was going to the Broncos. That must have fallen through.

At least Woods has go forward, Napa has dynamite in his shoulders, but only if you run straight at him, which isn't really the direction the game is going.
WTs should be looking for more mobility, not another forward that looks like their playing in concrete boots.

Hopefully not for much longer.

Madge is still on holiday. Who made the decisions on this supposedly new signing?

I'd imagine Sheens (as head of the coaching department) and Hartigan (as GM) would be doing all the recruitment.

The 28-year old Queensland representative prop joined the Bulldogs on a three-year deal.

The talented and hard running forward, made his NRL debut against the Bulldogs back in 2013, making 122 appearances for the Roosters in his six seasons at the club, including being part of the 2018 Premiership winning side.

He played 20 matches for the Bulldogs in his opening season, made 483 tackles, averaged 130.9 running metres per match as well as 823.8 post contact metres.

The 2020 season saw Napa go past 150 NRL matches and on the way appear in 16 games for the club, averaging 116 running metres and 29 tackles per game, as well as 10 tackle breaks and 589.4 post contact metres for the season.

Everyone complaining about no signing info at all … then when one might be happening everyone says no.

🤷‍♂️

I get that we need to plug some holes in the squad (possibly the understatement of the year) but we need to look at the big picture - both grand finalists are stacked with juniors who have come good with time, investment and good coaching.
What have both of those clubs achieved that we seemingly can't? Leaders with 'long game' vision and patience, quality talent identification practices, and an ability to run all aspects of the club effectively, from finances, media, community, etc etc.
Another forward with proven capacity to defend and provide post contact meters and a good outside back may just be enough for now, and be prepared to face a few years of Knights/Bulldogs style 'rebuild' pain. The club just needs to tell us that this is what's happening, and the fans will probably accept it.
