Well here we go. Brooks isn’t the answer for us but who else do we have? A guess it’s a case of moving backwards to move forwards.

Could give the keys to Madden.

But a strong club would keep Brooks as back up.

A strong club would cut their losses and recruit better. Not keep a $900k player as a backup.

In all honesty if we can swap him for Klemmer or Frizell from Newy who are on similar paypackets I am happy

IMO both Klemmer and Frizell both have poor kicking games. It would be a poor swap.

Hastings is already in the building as Brooks replacement and getting a strong forward as compensation for Brooks strengthens a weakness

In all seriousness I would take frizell but Klemmer past it.

I’m very concerned with our depth in the halves if we let brooks walk.

Klemmer's numbers were awesome last year despite sometimes coming off the bench in rotation with the Saifiti twins. He averaged 164m per game for the season and 98% tackle success. He'd automatically be our best prop

Thanks for that. Certainly good numbers. Funny how perceptions can be different to reality.

Brooks for Klemmer, boom. Get it done Sheens

If we don't get rid of Brooks now we'll be stuck with him until his contract runs out. Short term pain for the greater good, madden or peachey can play 6 until Doueihi is back. Not like we are making finals next year anyway

Greater good? You really have no idea.

Brooks ain't suddenly changing after 8 years. He's an alright halfback but will never be a great one. It's time the club stopped believing he will be something he's not and lead the team around. a change of scenery would be good for him personally as well.

Brooks is a very good NRL half.

Disagree thoroughly with that assessment. He's an NRL half with above average running game and support play. But his kicking, decision making, game management and passing longer than a short ball is well short of NRL standard

Chammas reporting that neither Brooks nor Tigers are prepared to let him go to Newcastle. Tigers apparently settled on him as starting half next year.

All of the skills you criticise Brooks for are way easier to execute behind a forward pack that gets you rolling. Most of the forwards Brooks has had are plodders, washed up or in England. But keep trolling.

Mate, why was AD be able to hit people with Long balls for tries, or hit floating torpedo bombs on the odd occasion Brooks wasn't given the ball on the last? He lacks certain skills that a key playmaker requires. Identifying his weaknesses is not trolling. Responding to any criticism of Brooks with sarcastic comments and no constructive arguments like pawsandclaws is trolling

Ever noticed the top sides have 12-13 elite players. Building around a player is not a thing.

According to Fox NRL, 4 clubs have shown interest in Brandon Smith, we are not one of them?

Dogs, Titans, Dolphins and Roosters.

All good, imo.

His manager also said there were a few clubs who he thought would show interest who didn't contact him

Brandon Smith laughed when our club was mentioned.

He laughed because he knows he’d come here and get treated like Brooks when we lose.

Our supporters are cut throat. Maybe that is why good players do not want want to go to Wests tigers. I don't blame these players at all.

We should be keeping Brooks for at least another year - we have Mike Tannous and Tyrone Roberts coming through Jersey Flegg - hopefully one or both of these two shows enough in JF or KOE next year to suggest they can move up to NRL in 2023.

I don't think any of our young halves will be rushed into first grade. Mikey is coming off an ACL and Roberts is an unknown commodity. Kade Hill is a handy player as well but still very very raw. Peach will fill a void if he has to I feel before we blood any of the kids. we've already seen with Madden how reluctant Madge is to debut young halves.

Hopefully this will change. Lui started as an inexperienced 6 but came on strongly. There is no reason why Madden would not have the same trajectory if given the opportunity. Roberts is highly thought of in the Illawarra. Young Boney had been signed to the Panthers since he was 14 so there is talent to work through.

Yes there is - A MASSIVE REASON....
EXPERIENCE!! - Or in the case of 2022 - Lack of it.
We have a team full of Kids and unknowns.
Lui came into a side that had been together for years and was lightyears ahead in Experience - And had the best leader we've ever had - Gareth Ellis.

Oh, And Madden isn't as good as Lui was...
even at that, Lui didn't make it in the NRL.... Remember?

True about Lui and the team he came into plus Ellis. Lui also had fitness issues and wasn't a particularly motivated defender but this changed. I disagree on Madden. I believe he has a bit to work with and may grow into a good organiser.

Can he organise deck chairs on doomed ocean liners?

Disagree all you like - Lui was amazing coming through (2 x 5/8 of the year in a row if I remember) He made that comp look absolutely stupid... Still didn't make an NRL Player - For whatever reason.

I don't know how much work you mean by "A bit" but from what I've seen - He doesn't have enough time...

You're deluded. Lui and Madden have had very similar trajectories as juniors. Lui was probably in stronger youth teams coming through the ranks which made his job easier. He was a better runner than Madden but Madden is far more composed and strategic.

Yo also have to remember Madden has had half his career wiped out due to covid, which has severely hampered his development (and that of all young players in nsw)

I may be proven wrong eventually, But I'm certainly not deluded - Seen plenty of Madden (including before Covid) and don't see anything overly special in him.
Also saw Brooks in Ressies and Madden pales in comparison...

Never really know unless you give him a proper go unless you think your some sort of recruitment guru ?
