He's mates with Laurie and Fitzgibbon, hope that means they can sway him our way.

Somehow ..I don't think Fitzgibbon holds much sway..

You'd think Tyronne Roberts may know him from Illawarra days.

I seen Roberts play in a local 1st grade game last year, scored 2 tries in the last 5 mins to win a semi final for Warilla at only 18? Or 19 years old. I was surprised he never got the same accolades Sloan and Sullivan got but good to see we picked him up

Handy half that can also play fullback and maybe dummy half in a pinch. Watch him flair up Jersey Flegg

Actually I think he may be 1 year younger than Sullivan/Sloan

Scolari looks like a bit of a unit, I’ve not seen a picture of him before but I had it in my head he was a slight winger, there ya go.

He's certainly not big. A lot smaller than Cini, Talau, Kepaoa.
But he's much faster and his mongrel and aggression is much greater.
Very good prospect

It's interesting - unless things have changed much since 2021, Cini was 91kgs and Kepaoa 89kgs. Talau 92kgs. What can be forgotten is that these players are still young and growing into their bodies at 20 & 21. A lot depends on what they have also done since lockdown - many have kept up their strength and conditioning training.

I think you'll find some of these players are much bigger than we think including Dillon who I would have thought could use some pounds.

Like everything, will the increase in size be inversely proportional to speed? If so, this can either be a negative or on the other hand, if their defence is solid, a move to the centres or even lock (more for someone like Scolari or Talau) -something like 85kgs for Dillon without losing his speed would be optimal).

I certainly wouldn't rule this out.

From the couple of photos from this week, it appears Dillon has put on significant size. He's looking a great prospect for FG this year.

We've picked up Christian Ma'anaima, a 20-year-old Prop from Newcastle. Unsure if he's on a train-and-trial deal or Top 30.

He's apparently the real deal and was close to playing NRL in 2021.

Was contracted til the end of 2023 at Newcastle so well done to whoever's got him over.

Solid boy...hope he's one of those units who comes off the back fence with every run.

He is a prospect, a full off season and I can see him pushing for a bench role during the season.

It's a great talent pool in the Illawarra. I am pleased we signed Roberts and hope we can land Sullivan.

Hopefully a couple of these youngsters can come on fast and play to their ability like Stefano and laurie .future will look better .it's been a while now since the big 4

We can play football. Gee isn't it exciting when we start to throw the ball around. Was that a 20 metre pass in front of our posts.

Absolutely they can bulk up once they hit the early 20s. It does look like a number of players have been hitting the gym regularly.

Without having seen any of them since June it's hard to tell. But my point was comparing someone like Scolari to Sivo is just wrong. Very different builds

I agree, the Illawarra is really a gold mine atm for talented outside backs

Not trying to be too pedantic but Warilla is part of Group 7 which is the area south of the Illawarra.Mick Cronin is probably the best player to ever come from that area (Geringong)

You are being pedantic. Warilla is and always has been part of the Illawarra geographically.

Tedesco made us so unpredictable in attack. Our defence was a shambles then too. It's a shame we had Taylor as coach through that period.

Also a shame we lost virtually every half decent/quality player the club had during that time. Most of if not all have since gone on to win multiple premierships/regularly made finals at other clubs. Imagine we had Madge at that time instead of Taylor.

Extremely surprising that we would feel the need to use development contracts on local juniors who are a long way off first grade in 2022 rather than players like Pole, Dillon, Scolari (who have played well in flegg and might be ready to step up soon) or prized recruits from outside the organisation.

Extremely surprising. Especially given they're all forwards.

Some players who have performed much stronger and higher bigger reputations don't get deals, yet these guys do?

O'Kane and Tumeth are good prospects, don't get me wrong, but it's a tad disappointing to see them be the one's given these special contracts.

When i lived in Warilla admittedly 50 years ago we did not count ourselves as part of the Illawarra. The Illawarra ended at Windang bridge and Dapto. All football teams south of those locations Warilla and Oak Flats considered themselves to be country sides in Group 7.

Physically he's nowhere near ready to push for nsw cup or first grade. He'd get eaten alive if thrown to the wolves too early.

Of course he can develop physically but i don't think he'd be close next season. Should be in a position to play a few nsw cup games by the end of the year and push for first grade in 2023.
