**DEVELOPMENT PLAYERS 2022**
Henry O'Kane - 19-year-old Second-Rower. Balmain SG Ball in 2021

Brandon Tumeth - 18-year-old Second-Rower. Balmain SG Ball in 2021

Lomi Saukuru - 19-year-old Second-Rower. Wests SG Ball in 2021

Extremely surprising that we would feel the need to use development contracts on local juniors who are a long way off first grade in 2022 rather than players like Pole, Dillon, Scolari (who have played well in flegg and might be ready to step up soon) or prized recruits from outside the organisation.

Extremely surprising. Especially given they're all forwards.

Some players who have performed much stronger and higher bigger reputations don't get deals, yet these guys do?

O'Kane and Tumeth are good prospects, don't get me wrong, but it's a tad disappointing to see them be the one's given these special contracts.

I have heard Tumeth will push for a debut in 2022, not sure about the other 2 though.

Saukuru is the one I have high hopes for - this kid is a handful on the edges and was a regular try scorer for the magpies this season.

Had 3 tries in 8 games, but may have set up others. Kitione Kautoga was another barn storming back rower that scored 3 in 3 before injury got him for the rest of the ball season

Saukuru has ability but very unfit, mail is it’s day two of preseason and he is struggling to keep up big time, also heard another one of the train and trialist has done a lower leg

That was fast.

Heard anything else?

Physically he's nowhere near ready to push for nsw cup or first grade. He'd get eaten alive if thrown to the wolves too early.

Of course he can develop physically but i don't think he'd be close next season. Should be in a position to play a few nsw cup games by the end of the year and push for first grade in 2023.

![alt text](https://www.weststigers.com.au/siteassets/2021/month-by-month/11/211104---training/211104---training_107.jpg?center=0.27%2C0.485&preset=photo-inline)

His stat line from his debut NSW game was pretty good for his first game in reserve grade:
112 meters from 13 runs, 33 out of 35 tackles and 1 tackle break.

He'll need to put on at least 10-15 kgs (if that is even possible with that frame without losing mobility ) ..we all saw how easily Seyfarth got brushed around in attack and defence when he 1st came into grade and he was way bigger ...

Seyfarth would have 10-15cms on him - his frame is very tall and skinny. Tumeth is far more nuggety, low centre of gravity and aggressive, which makes him hard to tackle but he's also not really a line running second rower, hitting gaps. Power is his game, even played some games at prop/lock.

They will work him out at NRL level ...work out what angle to hit him at

You watch To'o yards drop off next year ...they will have worked out how to hit and hold cleanly next year .....

??‍♂️ Anyone? The myth @THE_POM something

@THE_POM has been quite and that says to me we have nothing going on until Sheen arrives in town and sorts through the paperwork on his desk.... Maybe we might pick up a left over reserve grader in Feb before deadline.. I really thought with all the money we had and spots available we would of picked up a quality player by now or even before Nov 1... It also amazes me how are keep getting sponsors without been able to attract a star player/s because If I was a paying sponsor I would like to see on field results improve and better exposure for my brand..:face_with_rolling_eyes said:

It’s nice not to hear much delicate inside info trickle into places like this.

Yes I agree with this.
I don’t get why people are so desperate for “inside info”.
It’s all very gossipy..

Because it’s all we have to grasp onto

Yeah but it’s often incorrect or overstated.
There was a guy on LU claiming we had a centre and backrower pretty much signed a month or so ago. Both fell through.
It’s annoying.

Didnt realise Hodgson was managed by Isaac Moses, who hugely contributed to putting tis club in the position it is in today.
Id rathercompletely avoid dealing with him,but not at all costs if he has a player we are desperate for
And we SHOULDNT be desperate for a hooker with two shot knees turning 33 next year coming off a disastrous season where his immobility was cruelly exposed to such an extent he cldnt make the run on side despite collecting $900k
No wonder Raiders want to punt him..hes not the player he was 2 yrs ago
Hodgson was a dead man walking in ACT until Starling encountered issues with the law,but rite now Hodgson is their problem..and signing him accompanied my Moses wld double the risk
Stick with Liddle, who is a fraction the price and will be auditioning for his next job in 2022..hopefully with Madges replacement

100% correct but for me the pressing issue is our lack of centres. If we don’t plug those holes on the edges we won’t win many.

I guess the biggest part of a development player is that they get to join training with the full time NRL squad. Hopefully seeing where the others are at with their fitness, it might get him to see where he needs to get to if he wants to be 1st grade ready in the coming years. Up to this point he has only been involved in our junior systems.

Hopefully the injury to the other player is not a bad one and they get a proper chance to stake their claim for a spot in the top 30 or a reserve grade contract.

I feel like we would have seen his name in the Flegg list if he was. Unfortunate, because he looked like a gun. With that being said, they can only have so many 2nd rowers in the squad and it appears the club have prioritised Tumeth, O'Kane and Saukuru out of that crop of players coming through.

Will be interesting to see what kids get the leg up under McDonnell as compared to hartigan, certainly a polarising figure warren, if you have ever met him, he has a high opinion of himself , I know at the dogs he made some very poor calls with recruitment and pushed a couple of kids heavily that didn’t even make reserve grade and gave them over the top money, time will tell how much say on recruitment he has moving forward. My hope is that 1 or 2 of the kids we have now really surprise and push for nrl in the next 6 months.

Who knows if dogs really gave him a go. It's funny how many times he's been in and out of the club.

Wasn't McDonnell here with Sheens in 2005?
Could be a Sheenious appointment.
