This signing would be perfect to keep him. An experienced dummy half to ease him into grade and in 3 years it’s his team. I think It works well for all

Yeah I'm sure Simpkin would happily wait around for 3 more years in reserve grade decreasing his market value. Signing Api will mean we'll lose an absolute young gun. Not a smart move

Not sure anyone really sees it that way tbh. Simpkin can still play his role off the bench or start if Api is injured. Simpkin is definitely not physically up to starting every game and playing 80mins and Lids is so far off what this team needs atm. There's a place for both Simpkin and Api.

Disagree, Simpkin will want out. He didn't re-sign to be in reserve grade

How old is he? I wouldn’t think he would be expecting to first choice hooker for another couple of years, at least, maybe longer?

Only just turned 20, still elligible for Flegg.

It's incredible that a guy who is STILL eligible for Flegg played numerous 80 min games for us last year, he will be a top 3 hooker in the game over his career. I'm not hyped with this Api signing because I guarantee Simpkin has one foot out the door after this. We're letting go of a 20 year old future star to sign a 30 year old pretty good one - and we aren't in a premiership window.

Inb4 everyone says Simpkin will wait his turn - you don't think the Dolphins will be offering him a chance to start and return home to Queensland? You think he'd rather stay here playing reggies?

Thank God that hartigan flop is gone.
Yay 4 sheens

So bizarre. Hartigan does the review. Expect Maguire to be axed, instead he gets the axe, and we snag two desirable players. The question has to be asked - was he the problem.

Been saying it for a while. Everyone in league circles knows it’s Hartigan and Pascoe.

New team fronting managers and players is Madge and sheens. It’s a big change from a credibility perspective.

If the recent events are an indication of what Madge n Sheens can accomplish together, the future's looking bright ?
I always look forward to a new season, a fresh start, so this time I'm bouyed by the positive news that keeps coming our way and itching to see them get the best out of our whole organisation.

2022 is more rebuilding.
Getting the young guns ready and more experienced.

Getting a few guys like Brooks, Nofo and Liddle to play well so we can put them on show and hopefully ship em off to NQ or the Dragons.

What about shipping off your mate Doueihi? He’s a bit of a liability? Two knee reconstructions, the clocks ticking. Not to mention Twal, he look like a tree stump out there, no line speed, they more or less just trip over him! Can even pass the ball, EVER?? He has the imagination of a fence post.
I always love it when they pass it to him on the forth tackle with his devastating evasiveness and ball skills close to the line...
Try scoring guru

I really hate the cheating Storm. Essentially telling Stefano that Bellamy wants him and at the least pushing up his contract value whilst we are negotiating.

Don’t think the defensive work around the ruck is important?

Look just stirring demps a bit. He’s always keen to hassle players but never the cedars!
Back to Twal, great tackle completion %, but stats are not truly accurate. If u watch his defensive structure, often stands in the line waiting for the ball carrier. He either leaves gaps on his edges or causes a roll on for the opposition. Yes he tackles his opposite player well but it’s the knock on affects I don’t like.
Watch his game closer and u will see what I mean.

I like your post but what is it you think simpkin has that will make him so good? I see a solid enough hooker who is not quite up to 80minutes at the moment, but I don't see a top 3 hooker and I wondered what you think he has?

I probably still prefer the Hodgson option but am very happy with Api. I preferred Hodgson because he seemed a better organiser and a bit grittier and that's what I think we need.

Really impressed and surprised that we've signed quality players for not too heavy a price.

58 tackles in 85 mins on debut aged 19 with 2 years of Flegg eligibility left. He was also the best player in KOE cup, again when he was Flegg eligible. He's a future stud and we cannot afford to lose him

What makes him the best KOE player, in your opinion? I was wondering more about attributes in his game that you think are good rather than broad suggestions about potential. Making tackles is impressive but he's not a dominant tackler or anything. Again, I don't have anything against Simpkin just wondering what is special?

I remember Farah being special and dominating lower grades in a way that made his non-selection in 1st grade frustrating. Then he came into first grade and was an immediate spark, so it was frustrating again that he was only eased into the role at the time. Cameron Smith had a similarly dominant impact as soon as he played first grade. Harry Grant was electric.

Of those, Grant started later than Smith, Farah and Simpkin but Simpkin doesn't seem to be elite in any way to me, having only watched his 1st grade games and I'd love a sense of what makes him so promising.

Sorry but that’s not the best of demonstrations of his skills, just saying he did 58 tackles and is young! When liddle was dropped during the year to KOE cup, he tore a hole in it scoring try’s at will and setting several up. Was easier the better player in that grade. Not saying that Simpkin isn’t going to make it, but his fundamental skills are nowhere near liddles at this point. Crashing over from dummy half and passing flat balls to bad defence isn’t a high recommendation for Simpkins skill base.
Look I hope he develops into a top tear hooker,, but could easily be digging ditches on the side of the road with many other ex Australian schoolboy players!
If he does become a n elite player what’s going to stop him going back to red neck wonderland?? U know they all do, they can’t handle the fast life.
