Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

My suggestions on players available that Tigers can attract to fill positions that are required make 1st grade a stronger and much more competitive team :

Outside Backs : Jonus Pearson, Ken Maumalo, Robert Jennings, Richard Kennar,
Tom Opacic, Tyronne Roberts-Davis, Tyrone Phillips, Gehamat Shibasaki, Brian Kelly,
Tyrell Fuimaono.

Hooker : James Segeyaro, Issac Luke, Apisai Koroisau.

Prop : Jack Hetherington, Tui Kamikamica.

Second Row : Rhyse Martin, Corey Oates, Jack Gosiewski, Ethan Lowe, Marata Niukore, Brock Gray.

It Would be stupid if we didn’t .

It wasn't a suggestion…

What's the club's thoughts on Liddle at the moment? Is he still seen as the future? Or do they think he'll never make it?

Liddle is the future…if his start to the year wasn't botched ..I'd say he would be the now..

Farah still much better player we would of been in the 8 if had him at start of the year

I dont think Klemmer would like to move to Newcastle
With the Roosters signing the English winger Hall watch them release Tupou
Newcastle can have him instead

Nathan Brown is enticing Klemmer to break his contract with a massive offer. Klemmer is on 650k money talks hence Klemmer comments. Dogs won’t release him though.

I would say Klemmer is looking to get out
Hence his public comments about leaving if it helps the club
He wont want to wait 3 to 4 years before the Bulldogs can start to build a strong team again
Give them McQueen for Klemmer
Hell give them Sue too

You're amazing - you just think - we'll give them x and Y and they will go.

I'll tell you - "You are dreamin'"

Gees you took the bait didnt you

I see Keegan Hipgrave is off the list , signed for 2 seasons with the Titans

I'm a big fan , big body , goes hard ,doesn't take a backward step , not intimidated

Would have looked good in a Tangerine ,White and Black jersey

Was mentioned several pages back that we were interested in Adam Milner .
He just re-signed for 3 years with Castleford

There’s not much to get overly excited about on that list. Everyone came off contract last year so it’s slim pickings this year. Hopefully a few players come onto the market at seasons end.

Oates has worse hands than Mark Minichiello

Will never crack it as a 2nd rower

We could be a chance if we offer him a chance in the 2nd row, give him the trials and a round or two and when it’s notvworking out back to the wing. Would be an upgrade to our back line.

Some good suggestions there, particularly in the outside backs where we are very, very thin. I would also look at Nathan Davis. A risk looking at someone that cannot make first grade for a team that are in contention for the spoon, but I think Parra's backline is set for the incumbents regardless of how bad they are going.

Props and backrowers there is not much available. Need to decide whether we spend coin on a proven average first grader (like Lowe) or look for player with potential.

I think we are a ranga or 2 short, would have a look at Harvey Livett, he is also a goal kicker.

No I didn't - you've said said sort of stuff before.

You were dreamin' then and you are dreamin' now.

I would give Holland a go a go - not too expensive and a goal kicker.

Played well last night - even though the opposition was z grade.

Yuck! Ordinary player at best (IMHO).

Playing under a tight rein did not suit him - he was off the leash last night again and was quite good.

Maybe you were not watching.

Farah still much better player we would of been in the 8 if had him at start of the year

Which games would he solely have reversed the result of? If we had won against the titans, we would be 2 points out of the 8.

Big part of our problem with average/plodder players moving on from the 30 x NRL squad is that there are few, if any, players really pressing for a chance at promotion from the ISP team. Ive no problem with holding onto our coins if there is nothing much on the market until next season starts and we are looking at 2020 season but we do have to replace positions in props, back row, wing and centres.

AND perhaps just as importantly make the succession planning decisions on:

a/ whether to retain Brooks and forego a play for Cleary (or any other halfback).

b/ Yes, I'd be more than happy if Farah wants to go around for another year as it puts a decision off on Liddle's future and gives him 2019 to ease his way forward one way or the other.

c/ Marshall, has also earned a opportunity to make his call if he wants a further year, but I wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt, meaning we are vulnerable with Reynolds future. Think we have to give Gamble an opportunity (not just 1 game)- just to know.

d/ Sue seems to be HIA vulnerable and potentially 1 injury away from medical retirement.

e/ and finally try and move McQueen on, he has been a failure this season and I cant see further time making any difference.

I reckon for my 2 cents worth make offers (not overs) to Ethan Lowe, and a some props, back rowers and winger- centres from whats left in the market and also take a quick look at the ESL market. AND yes, begin some immediate soundings out for 2020 season signatures. I still have a hunch Manaia Cherrington can fill the hooker gap if Farah doesnt want another year.

Query- ESL- any clue about Ben Barba future? Also any standout Aussies / English over there left?

I am trying to work out the direction of the club and some of the fans.

Ivan is great and has a long term plan to turn this club around and turn us into a force.

As part of the long term plan, we have signed a few players who have proven to be injury prone or average, but that is not important. These were symbolic signings to show we can attract players and to turn the culture of the club around. The important thing is who we recruit next.

The next step in the long term vision is that we will hold young players that the club has identified long term first graders in reserve grade. Further to this long term vision we will re-sign a couple of 35 year olds that have lead teams to finals 3 times in the last 14 seasons because there is no-one that has proven themselves to be better.

If our team is held together by Benji and Robbie next year, the club has no long term plan and will not play finals football during Ivan current contract, and likely the next 5 years.
