I am telling you Bateman is cooked, his body language tells you everything, all Teams know how predictable he is, run sideways, palm and look for a runner, nothing changes, try assists Nil, tackle breaks 3, Line breaks Nil, Off loads 2. Just trying hard doesn't cut it for the money he is on.
The full pre-season is a concern.Don't understand all the hate for Bateman, guy was in our top 3 players every week before he got moved to lock & that absolutely killed his momentum. With a full pre season under his belt he'll be back to his best next season.
Hiroti and Iro have been in the Sharks' system for some time. Isn't there a young winger who is highly rated? I would be reviewing the Broncos centre and wing depth. The Broncos always have big and fast backs. There was a lot of benefit for the Broncos to sign Reynolds 1. Great Club Man who gets everyone involved on match days and non match days. If players make mistakes in a game you hardly see him blow up at players.
2.Game planner unlike Luke Brooks .
What about K.Iro from Cronulla Sharks can cover wing, centre, fullback off contract end of the year.
Mam and Walsh help. As does their young forwards coming of age. It’s amazing how quickly the Broncos have bounced back after those two dreadful seasons. The acquisition of Reynolds is a key factor and it’s amazing how that has lifted everyone else, who were playing like crap for a couple of years. Canterbury buying Burton & JAC, the Dragons buying Hunt and us buying Api hasn’t done anything to improve those team’s performances in a long while. Walters is a much better coach than I originally thought he was.
It’s a concern. He’s our highest paid player. That is unless API is now on over $800k?I am telling you Bateman is cooked, his body language tells you everything, all Teams know how predictable he is, run sideways, palm and look for a runner, nothing changes, try assists Nil, tackle breaks 3, Line breaks Nil, Off loads 2. The club didn’t share that view when Reynolds was looking for a new home. Nothing in the media connecting Reynolds and Wests Tigers? At a time when we had more leaks than a soaker hose. There was a lot of benefit for the Broncos to sign Reynolds 1. Great Club Man who gets everyone involved on match days and non match days. I don’t think anyone is saying he is “the answer”.Bevan French is not the answer. Would love to see Billy Smith and Olam in the centres. Retain Staines but not at his current salary. Kaeo Weekes could do a job for us. Flick Nofo; he is ESL ready and looks cooked. I don't want to see Kepaoa or Toa re-signed. Upgrades in the backline required.
I think it’s experience. You can see once he’s had a bad game, particularly under the high ball, he comes out the next week and kills it.You reckon that can change through some targeted training and proper coaching?
He has everything it takes to be a star except the mental application
Club still backed Brooks therefore they felt he wasn’t needed. Also Madge being coach at the time probably wouldn’t have helped us sign him if the rumours of them having a falling out are true. The club didn’t share that view when Reynolds was looking for a new home. Nothing in the media connecting Reynolds and Wests Tigers? At a time when we had more leaks than a soaker hose.
I'm glad the other side know what he is doing because our blokes look like they have no idea. He runs around like a greasy pig less the grease.I am telling you Bateman is cooked, his body language tells you everything, all Teams know how predictable he is, run sideways, palm and look for a runner, nothing changes, try assists Nil, tackle breaks 3, Line breaks Nil, Off loads 2. It’s the town square in this thread. This thread seems to go a little bit beyond the signing rumours, hence the 10,000 pages…
I think with 10+ years of disappointments… it’s amazing there is anyone still interested enough to bother commenting on the team… I don’t begrudge them discussing what they want … we wont be seeing Sullivan and Fainu playing for them for six months
He wasn't a standout whenever i've watched us play, can't be that big or fastDon't we have a big fast winger who played SG Ball for Balmain and is ex St Joseph's College Hunters Hill via Dubbo product? I understood he is in the Cubs/pathways?
Well I recall us having a disagreement over the prospects of a young player at Corrimal in our U20s. I thought he changed the fortunes of the game and was a future star, you believed differently. His name was Fonua Pole. I am not claiming special insight because it was obvious he was a special talent. He wasn't a standout whenever i've watched us play, can't be that big or fast
I mentioned that recently asking if anyone knows of any tall, fast, athletic outside backs coming through the grades. Paul Johnson & Onitoni Large U16 up to Jay Kirk U21, not sure how tall or fast Riley Oitmann is, he maybe one? There needs to be an investigation into why the WT repeatedly target undersized players. It can't be an accident when it's what we've been doing for 15 years.
Most of our talented juniors coming through are nearly all small nuggety types. Utai/Nof style wingers, as well as short forwards with massive legs.
We seems to take one gamble a year on a tall player with power and pace, and throw them under the bus as soon as they play one poor game. The tragic state of our NSW cup and flegg sides is testament to the complete failure to recruit players with the necessary traits.
Penrith are interesting, stats-wise. Their forwards, who are rated so highly, do not actually get THAT many metres per game- averaging around that 120m per game range for Leota & Fisher-Harris.
BUT- their back 3, the worst metres-per-game is Turuvu at 167m a game. To'o & Edwards are upwards of 200m a game.
The Tigers BEST back 3 player- Bula at 158m per game.
We absolutely need to fix that. Tupou (120m a game) could be a centre in waiting. Nofa isn't going anywhere (125m a game). Staines is officially our 'best' winger at 148m a game. Those numbers are pedestrian. That's 100m a game we are automatically behind teams like Penrith. The Panthers first forward hitup is when they have developed momentum already.
We need a winger that runs with power out the back.
Watch the game or your opinions are worthless!I disagree, and that is ok.
True, but compared to Kepoa he is the energise bunnyLooks like he's playing Frisbee....
