Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

What's happening with the re-signing of Blore? Isn't he a free agent 1 November?

I believe we could be waiting for another team to sign him for 2022 and we then release him for a future star that is playing under 12's. :man-facepalming:

On a serious note - I find it strange that we have not announced any resigning yet like every other club. Waiting will most likely drive there price up.

No news is not necessarily bad news. Probably a lot going on behind the scenes. Quite happy to wait for any news of players coming-and going-especially given the negative press we get on almost everything we do from garbage rags like the Telegraph and from out-of-control bigheads like Fittler.

Pascoe “hold my cocktail”, no wait, we’re no hope.

Is the get out clause an indication of his lack of desire or just plain insecurity? According to one media report Suaalii is a long strider but not quick? So not sure which events he would enter at the olympics? Long jump? Anyone know?

Bolt was a long strider

Now you’re talking! Has he heard of rugba leeeg?

We like to go to the table as underdogs. It makes our opponents feel comfortable.
I’m thinking a lot will happen when Pascoe and Madge return from holidays.

They are still on holidays? Not a good look seeing that Nov.1 is only two days away!

I can’t see a problem with what we are doing. We aren’t rushing in to buy a player just to be active, as we have in the past (Reynolds, Packer etc).

We are targeting players that will help us. I think we will find that we end up with a decent signing or two for future seasons (22 on) after nov 1 and we will look to try and get an early release if possible. (most clubs will be juggling and plenty of swaps and releases will be granted).

No inside information, just seems logical. It’s what I would be attempting to do giving the current talent available for next season.

Unlike Brad Arthur who has gone for a different approach and looking for a short term fix with 5 quick signings. 😂😂😂.

the only chance we have of getting Sualli imo is if we get a clubman like Rowdy to go and speak to him and just get him to lay everything the club represents, culture etc

That is exactly the role Robbie or Benji should have been filling for us. But for some reason it hasn't turned out like that.

Robbie and Benji aren't the role models that we needed and wanted them to be. Talented players no doubt, but highly egotistical. Really not team players. In his current frame of mind you wouldn't want benji representing anything to do with WT, he'd poison anyone against us.

Maybe he'll settle down and become more mature in retirement, whenever that may be. We desperately need some new club legends for kids to idolise.

It's interesting the Roosters feel the need to use SBW. Perhaps negs.are not going their way?

It's what they and the Storm do. Take your big guns out to see the juniors, players that the prospective junior idolises. Good business practice imo.

Imagine being a young kid and having Benji Marshall trying to convince you to sign. Mate, I would listen.

Penrith do it too. Gould would take these kids through their performance centre and wow them.

Once our COE is built we need our coaches, hartigan or player looking after these kids and doing the same as Penrith, roosters and storm. It clearly works

I see we have Scott Woodward NRL Analyst from Melbourne Storm for 2020 he has this Talent Identification Program for recruiting and retaining rugby league players
He may have been with us back in 2012 not sure

We don’t really know what’s happening. We have a hostile media, so we’re not placing any trust in their information (bs mostly). We can only speculate as to the club’s recruitment strategy. The top 4 or so clubs have no trouble off loading players, which makes them active early. I’m like you, would like to think the recruitment is targeted and as purposeful as a tiger hunting prey.
We need a FB with speed first and foremost. There are some very good FBs playing out of position who are looking for a contract. Then we can afford to have patience for anything else on the shopping list.

Gosh, they’re giving us a hiding in the media..

Brad Fittler is shocked that Wests couldn’t find a spot for Ryan Papenhuyzen at the club, stating the Tigers “got it wrong” on several decisions in recent years, per The Sydney Morning Herald.
Papenhuyzen, Josh Addo-Carr and James Tedesco will all come together for the first time as Blues players under Fittler on Thursday, having all departed Leichhardt in recent years.
Wests Tiger fans get constantly reminded about stars that got away, with some decisions the club have made in recent years amongst the worst.
Nine years without playing finals football and their Origin representative, Harry Grant, was on loan from the Storm.
Papenhuyzen was at Balmain before the 22-year-old chased his NRL dream with the Storm as Billy Slater was coming to the end of his career.
**“I was disillusioned when the Wests Tigers couldn’t find a spot for him,” Fittler said of Papenhuyzen.**
“There were a few [decisions] there where whatever they did during that period, it was just wrong.
“So someone got it wrong, whoever it was, and I don’t care.
“He [Papenhuyzen] has been awesome. Before the grand final I asked him, ‘Mate, how are you going to get your speed in with it being so wet?’
“And he just said, ‘I’ll find a way’. And when he took off for that [second-half] try … he found a way.”
Tedesco and Papenhuyzen both exited the club in 2017 and went on to win premiership silverware.
“I think that’s happened a lot,” said Tedesco, when asked about good players departing Concord. “Josh Addo-Carr has also won a few premierships now. But what can you do?”
Addo-Carr started at the Tigers but, like Papenhuyzen, left for Melbourne where he has won two titles.
The Tigers are now wanting to bring back Addo-Carr, who is hoping for a return home.
Addo-Carr said after the grand final he was bound for Sydney in 2021, but “no other team is like Melbourne”.
Papenhuyzen, who took out the Clive Churchill Medal on Sunday night, told the Herald he wouldn’t have been half the player he is today if he didn’t head to Melbourne.

There is nothing in that article to be upset about except WTs' inability to retain talent. I admit that is on the previous management and with Hartigan and Maguire at the helm we seem to be on a much better trajectory. PS I don't believe Fittler wrote the article.

If Fittler is saying he was "disillusioned" when Papenhauzen left the Tigers then he is a liar.

At the time it was a reserve grade player changing clubs as he couldn't crack first grade. I'd be gobsmacked if Fittler even raised an eyebrow.

In hindsight it may have turned out to be a mistake but there's no guarantee his career would have been on the same trajectory here and it's massive revisionism from Fittler to suggest he knew it was a mistake at the time.

Seems to be constant attacks on the Tigers from Fittler, actively starting to dislike him.

Yes I think he intent on pushing us out of the comp, tbh. The Boofhead has become quite arrogant in recent times and seems to have too much say in everyone’s affairs since becoming the NSW Origin coach.

His attack on the Qld Premier for being reticent to hold SOO during the height of Covid earlier in the year was just plain embarrassing! She is the political leader of a State who was doing her best to protect the health of the people of that state, during a time that was unprecedented in our history and the dribbler was just crying and chucking a tantrum like a 2 year old because his precious Origin series might’ve been cancelled for one year - give me a break!

I used to quite like the guy, but like you Celtic, I’m actively starting to dislike him also.

Jacob Jacob Jacob

Posts like this show your lack of maturity. Because people back Liddle you try to make out we think he”s better than Grant. We’re actually because he will be next year and Grant won’t.

I want the tigers to succeed and if that is with Liddle as starting hooker great, do think Simpkin will be the better option in the end.
So then we shouldnt even make a play for Grant as we dont need him then, Liddle will do the same job ?

We, or should I say you, need to let Grant go.

I'm not giving up that we dont get him long term for 2022 pending if we get JAC or not. But yes agree he will not be here for 2021 as it stands, at present we have Liddle and Simpkin for 2021 it is a downgrade but hopefully we manage

Dude, how many times do you need to be told he’s contracted for 2022. And what does getting JAC have to do with it. Yet another thing you always go one about.

Leave him alone . Your stalking every post he makes. It’s a forum, your not the harry grant expert here. Harry has said multiple times if smith is there he won’t be. He wants to play number 9.

I’m more worried about your obsession with Tedesco. He will never come back here so let it go. Nothing Jedi _tiger has said is more ludicrous then you saying offer Tedesco $2m. I can only imagine the outcry if anyone else had said that.

Harry has also confirmed twice he’s going back to Melbourne...

And atleast twice he’s said he won’t be there if smith is there. So you know as much as anyone else on here.

Dear oh dear, you still aren’t clinging on to him being here in 2021 are you? ?‍♂️

Mate... I don't care for your spat, but what Harry says and what happens are two different things.

It's all PR, he is CONTRACTED to Melbourne, he is expecting to go back to Melbourne. But what happens if Cam Smith plays on, no one can really say with your level of confidence. You are more than welcome to predict this, and I even agree with it. But it's not the end of the story.

This..... X2

The POM even came on here and said they were told by the NRL to keep it under wraps bc of the media attention it’ll get which’ll promote the idea that the loan system doesn’t work and Harry has been instructed to insist he’s returning to storm next year due to his contract saying so

Explains his hesitance to guarantee he’ll be at the storm next year as earlier on in the season, he would always say “we’ll see how it plays out towards the end of the season” cliche - you can tell he gets uncomfortable when asked bc he himself doesn’t know for sure what club he’ll be at next year

I must have missed that POM post
