Gee I hope letting go of madden doesn’t come back to bite us because he’s definitely gone if we get Hastings.

Don’t know why so many are high on this signing, super league and NRL is not just a different ball game it’s almost a different planet. Speed of the game overall and just general quality is worlds apart. David Fifita almost won the man of steel so that’s a crap measure for how good a player is. I know some players who have won it come to the NRL and continue their good form (James Graham and Jamie Lyon to name some) but that’s outweighed by the many who’ve done stuff all.

At this present time I can’t see how he’s any better than what we already have just because he can kick goals. Would be frustrating to see him play hooker as it’s a stupid assumption of the modern game that all halves can also play hooker and we should be sticking strong with liddle and Simpkins for a good while.

For me Hastings signings (if true) is a no brainer.
We loose Reynolds and Walters all we have is a pretty big hole in the halves.
Inconsistent Brooks, untied Madden and Doueihi.
Hastings brings an experienced reasonably to low cost back up to the back line and perhaps hooker.
And ***don’t start with playing in the super league and being named man of steel in England is an easy gig***. That’s just rubbish from hyped up Aussie league fans that believe they are the gods gift to rugby league world.

Pat was a good player, it didnt suit my agenda ;-).

There had been some bog average footballers win "Man of Steel". Pat was not one of them.

ITs a bog average highlights package. He can only play whats in front of him but there is a MASSIVE gulf between the comps at the moment.

Laurie’s size is abit of a concern,Papenhuyzen being such a lightweight his head and body have been put in some very dangerous positions when getting tackled.Tedesco is much bigger in size than Laurie or Paps,Sivo ran over Teddy last year,he wasn’t the same player when he returned

I agree Daine probably needs to gain 5kg in muscle (currently 83kg) to hold his own. However he'll be 22 this year and will fill out over the next couple.

In saying that, Brett Hodgson one of our favourite sons and one of the best fullbacks in the 2000 era played his career at 78kg.

Mate it'snteresting how the game has changed, the great Graham Langlands played at just over 12 stone about 178kg.

What a unit.

I think that you should Google 12 stone conversion table, it's 76kgs.

No probs mate...normally you need a media player, but that site has the audio embedded so all you need is the link.

I have not listened to the show before though, so I don't know if they use that format regularly.

Signing Hastings now would signal to Brooks+Doueihi that Madge doesn't thing one of them is good enough for us. After spending the entire off season working on the team i really don't see how signing someone like this would do anything but disrupt team harmony and shatter player confidence

So we don't sign anyone for the 3 vacant spots because someone might get upset?
Truth is Brooks had a terrible season last year and Douehi is unproven as a five eighth.
Hastings would put the torch on them (and Madden too hopefully).
Funny how no one cared about Mbye's feelings when we signed Daine Laurie?

Its not intuitive.

Find jimmy smith and you will find there is one today and one that dates back to decemmber
