We've some pretty useful wingers in our Flegg. Why spend a fortune when we can produce one or two with histories we are aware of?

Are any FG ready?

For next year yes, which is probably when we could get a new recruit anyway.

Who's ready for next season? I don't see anyone yet. Ogden maybe a chance if he can get his fitness right, but he's not really a winger. Scolari is too small to just get thrown in, he needs a season of nsw cup against the big boys to prove his fight is enough to hold his own against much bigger and stringer players.

There is the significant part of the season left. Also an off season. Players come on quickly. With our improved coaching and pathways, that should happen.

If we've learnt anything from Laurie, it is that our fullback must bring pace to the table. Tedesco and Papenhuyzen have it, Cini doesn't. I expect Cini to be overtaken by Dillon who has the x factor.

But Dillon's way too small to play wing. He's exclusively a fullback, and with Laurie looking like he's wrapped that spot up i can't see him getting much of a run. Dillon would definitely need a year in nsw cup at least, he would be the smallest player in the league if he ever does debut. Pap still has a bit more size to his frame, and had a few years in lower grades before coming of age. Sure Logen needs to fill out as he ages but he's a fast, short, skinny kid at the moment still.

Dufty, Laurie and Papenhuyzen are all smaller stature fullbacks enjoying success. With the faster game and every team seeking an advantage, the days of a Dugan sized fullback may be coming to an end? Mitchell despite the garbage in his game remains an outstanding player.

I agree Dillon needs more time but it is reassuring to have him.

As for the wings, I still believe we'll have options from Flegg and NSW Cup next year as well as Naden.

Sorry, but “the used to know him” doesn’t mean anything today, do you not think blokes can’t change? Do you not think he would understand his career would be in jeopardy with a 3rd club getting rid of him?

We need players to take us to the level of last game, every game, if this bloke can do it, then great.

We are not in a strong position to grab any game breaker players, until we start to get some consistency with our win/loss results, being more win than loss.

Interesting to hear. Maybe a bit socially awkward and a loner. Has come across rude and arrogant in the past. He has identified there is a bit of a problem there and sought significant help from a Psychologist. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

What I liked most about the Hastings interview is that he's a footballer.
We have a scarcity of blokes at the club who aren't just battering ram pre programmed athletes.

The club needs a couple more footy heads who grew up playing backyard footy in the club.

I'm sure Hastings isn't the first person to want to chin DCE and wont be the last to follow through with it. My recollection regarding how that incident played out is hazy however I recall sources close to Manly at the time all saying it was instigated by DCE and Hastings didn't want a bar of him so he gave him a bit of a face massage with his fist.

DCE being the team poster boy and on massive money couldn't be shown the door so the club made Hastings the fall guy.

Brent Naden's terms for 2022 & 23 have been agreed upon, Talk ongoing to see if there's a chance of getting him this year (made all more desperate now with AJ's injury).
Club has been talking to Isaac Lumelume's management about an early release to bolster this years backline, nothing eventuated as yet, not ruled out as a 2022 signing.

Semi Valemei (Raiders), Nene McDonald (Sharks) & Tevita Funa (Sea Eagles) have been mentioned as possible depth signings before June 30.

Not bad. I don't mind Funa as a player probably the best of the 3 mentioned there. Naden early would be really nice

Lumelume would be a brilliant signing

I haven't seen to much of him but seems decent. Thought he might've got a run at Melbourne this year though

He's very quick and tall from memory and comes from around the inner west.

Yep - we stuck to the rules at Leichhardt, whereas they packed out their stadium with a full crowd the same weekend.

His first comment is why do some coaches believe they are the exception when others have failed (in relation to recruiting players who have a history)? This is the same gentleman who pointed out a young 16 year old Ryan Girdler as a future star. I listen when someone of that background makes comment.

No offence intended mate but I dont think we should entirely write off this potential signing based on your mate who has connections to Illawarra footy.

What did Hastings actually do? No one has ever said. He also seems to have matured a lot after being exiled.

He was only 22 at the time and some young men do not mature as quickly as others. If ruffling the feathers of a few ego's is the worst he has done I think he is probably entitled some leeway. His price tag would be thing I am most concerned about. He is still relatively in proven here.

Every person I know that went to school with such and such now playing in the NRL, is either working on a. Forklift or telling a forklift driver what to do.
