Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Our current centre options are Jet, Talau, Pauga, BJ, Hoffman and Zac Cini. I am not aware of any other NRL-level centre on the market right now?

In that regard Curtis Scott is not a bad signing. A very risky signing, yes, but not a bad one. You will only be able to tell how bad it might be in 1-2 years from now.

Agree... Add to the fact he knows he needs to perform or its back to a normal job or overseas.. We are due for some luck so fingers crossed we even get him 1st.

Curtis Scott ???

I am interested. ⚫⚪?

Based on... what?

Strange question...

Based on he's better than what we currently have.
Has a bit of crazy to him.

I just like it....

Not strange at all.

He's an average player with a history of off field issues. We are not the club to fix him.

Average and still better than what we currently have...

We don't need to fix him.
Like we didn't need to fix Jimmy the Jet.

It's on them to realise what they have and make the most of it.
Our squad is something that needs fixing though and Curtis is positive in my opinion.

I'd say he's on par with what we currently have. I really do not rate him. What did he add to Canberra, if anything?

And then you have his off field issues...

Ugh

Respect your opinion man.
Maybe he doesn't like it in Canberra but he's waiting waiting a chance to prove himself.

I'm hopeful.
I'm a big fan of this Signing.

It's a pity Scott wasn't with us last week he could have given the wife basher another black eye.

I think big Stef steam rolling him and knocking him out was more impactful than an misfired punch from Scott.

Walker is lucky to even be employed IMO.
He's done much worse than Curtis.

Another mixed bag response with a signing, on here.
Always makes for an interesting read.

Would be another money ball signing.
We are due for one to work out.
My concern is he is known as a defensive centre and I haven’t seen him as that since he left Melbourne.
We need footballers that can deliver consistent (good) performances and are internally driven to win football games.
His recent track record suggests to me he is only consistent in missing football due to off field matters.
Hopefully he can turn that around but for me when I think about where we are at we need to recruit people with a better mentality and application to the game to take us forward.

Good points, but we need someone in the backs that can show something? I said earlier, it’s not as if we have players banging down our door?

Yeah agreed, we need a lot more talent and spark in the outside backs.
Particularly in the centres.
At this point in time Curtis Scott is obtainable and has upside if he can get himself right.
However, based on recent evidence he seems less likely to take us forward with consistent good performances and more likely to be another hot and cold footballer who will simply fit in with our current poor performance standard.

Scott would be fine if he's cheap with a not too long term contract. People knock Joey and Roberts signings but Roberts is being paid squad filler money and has overperformed on that price, Joey is way overpaid but was on a 2 year contract. I was against signing him initially when I thought it was a three year deal, but neither contract was that bad and I'd re-sign Roberts if contract price is low and he's keen and knows he won't be starting.

Well said, Roberts hasn't performed, but how many players are offerring much more in the comp for the $$$ he is on? If anything to get 10 games of first grade out of someone on that coin is great. If it gives us more coin to get someone else/others I am happy to keep him on at that price.

I still haven’t given up on Roberts. He’s had no good ball all year.

Literally don’t give a crap what type of person he is. All this carry on about the “type of person to represent my Tigers “ is just rubbish. I want people who can play and are desperate to win. Anything else is a whatever. It’s about winning.
We don’t have a Mr Congeniality award in the NRL.
Is he the best centre around now? No. Is he light years better than anyone else we have in the centres - a resounding yes. Give him a reasonable tight contract with the right incentives or out the door. He’ll straighten up.

So same should go for Flanagan to replace madge

The type of person you are determines the type of player you are. The types of players you have determines the type of team you have.

If the player starts cheating and taking drugs whilst at the club, then yes it's the same as Flanagan.

Respectfully disagree with that. A million @holes who have been world champs.

Depends on whether you think Flanagan is a better coach than Madge - in my opinion he’s not.
Also drug cheats are scum. I wouldnt be saying that if Scott had been pinged for drugs.
And I think you know exactly what I mean re not being Choir boys.

Roosters chasing Brandon Smith?
😂

See Cronk on 360 saying he will get $500k, already putting in the groundwork for a cheap roosters deal. Ready actually called him on it, saying clubs will pay close to a million

Especially when he goes for “$500k” because, you know, I just want to play with the best….. phfff

If he only costs $500k he won’t be leaving Melbourne.
Cronk having a lend.

Yes I do. Thus clubs dramatic rebuild can be done with a different coach. The game has surpassed Madge, his style doesn’t work anymore.

Fair enough. You’re entitled to your opinion champ.

I also know Curtis Scott personally when he was coming through the ranks at endeavour

Extremely highly rated junior and sharks were fuming they lost him to Melb from memory he had nearly every team after his signature, pretty sure he was the captain of the Australian Schoolboys team

Has all the talent in the world, but has a temper and his mates aren’t really the best role models let’s just say….. but overall as a person he’s a really good dude, if he’s serious about his career which I know he is I think he knows he’s on his last legs and will put the effort in

Curtis Scott would be the best option at centre, and is a low risk/ high reward signing… don’t understand why anyone would be against this signing from an on field perspective

fair comments. he's about to hit the age when he grows up. low risk/high reward

Lets face it if we sign him and he stuffs up he will be lucky to be a brickie.
