Roosters chasing Brandon Smith?
?

See Cronk on 360 saying he will get $500k, already putting in the groundwork for a cheap roosters deal. Ready actually called him on it, saying clubs will pay close to a million

if Brandon Smith goes to Roosters this comp is a joke

He will go to the Dogs as they seem to have a different salary cap to most now.. Don't need 30 players they will run with 17 high priced players and hope no injuries or suspensions..

Literally don’t give a crap what type of person he is. All this carry on about the “type of person to represent my Tigers “ is just rubbish. I want people who can play and are desperate to win. Anything else is a whatever. It’s about winning.
We don’t have a Mr Congeniality award in the NRL.
Is he the best centre around now? No. Is he light years better than anyone else we have in the centres - a resounding yes. Give him a reasonable tight contract with the right incentives or out the door. He’ll straighten up.

Agree. I just want to win because this crap of not playing for title every year is really getting old. If the players are good blokes, well that's a bonus.

So same should go for Flanagan to replace madge

Depends on whether you think Flanagan is a better coach than Madge - in my opinion he’s not.
Also drug cheats are scum. I wouldnt be saying that if Scott had been pinged for drugs.
And I think you know exactly what I mean re not being Choir boys.

Yes I do. Thus clubs dramatic rebuild can be done with a different coach. The game has surpassed Madge, his style doesn’t work anymore.

Fair enough. You’re entitled to your opinion champ.

Madge isn’t going anywhere guys.

I also know Curtis Scott personally when he was coming through the ranks at endeavour

Extremely highly rated junior and sharks were fuming they lost him to Melb from memory he had nearly every team after his signature, pretty sure he was the captain of the Australian Schoolboys team

Has all the talent in the world, but has a temper and his mates aren’t really the best role models let’s just say….. but overall as a person he’s a really good dude, if he’s serious about his career which I know he is I think he knows he’s on his last legs and will put the effort in

Curtis Scott would be the best option at centre, and is a low risk/ high reward signing… don’t understand why anyone would be against this signing from an on field perspective

fair comments. he's about to hit the age when he grows up. low risk/high reward

Lets face it if we sign him and he stuffs up he will be lucky to be a brickie.

I would offer him a James Roberts like deal. Show us you want to play otherwise head off

He has this reputation that he's a hard guy and is a task master.... yet at the Tigers he's been nothing but a soft touch.

We ask for accountability... he drops some kids instead of the usual suspects who just refuse to play with some pride and passion.

Madges style... perplexing favouritism.
Loyalty to players who would be the first to turn their backs given the chance.

So that style once worked?
I don’t get it.
I also agree and scratch my head with some of the players that have been dropped vs not dropped but maybe, as many have said earlier, he’s run out of viable options. Im also of the opinion that the whole eggshells thing has pulled him back somewhat in the hard task master stakes, nothing factual just a gut feeling

I note at the time the decision to leave Inglis on the field was compared to the swift action of Bellamy to remove Jess Bromwich from the field after he badly injured his hand. Again I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions on the issue.

I'm sorry, on this one you've completely lost your mind. Comparing a systematic drug, salary cap and ban cheat with the odd injured player. An injured player in no way being consistently applied to Maguire as a coach, or independent of the actions of any other prominent coach.

You point out Craig Bellamy removing Jesse Bromwich, what about Cam Smith playing last year's GF with broken ribs? After he had already spent the previous 2 months taking painkillers for a chronic shoulder injury.
https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/nrl-2020-cameron-smith-rib-injury-melbourne-storm-vs-penrith-panthers-grand-final/news-story/07bedde4b11e727cd06f4fb83d89b163

Trent Robinson knowingly played Cooper Cronk with a broken scapula, what the club doctor described as an injury more common to vehicular accidents. Borderlining the amount of anaesthetic they could safely administer.
https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/10/01/how-cooper-cronk-overcame-car-crash-injury-to-win-a-grand-final/
>"Robbo (Roosters coach Trent Robinson) was really calm, he was saying 'If it's negative news I don't want to hear about it, you just have to give him every minute'," Ibrahim said.
>"That fracture is what you see with motorbike accidents and car accidents. It was the width of his scapula – the entire width. Which would have been 15cm. We cut the jersey off at half-time.
>The other thing to note is that it was the maximum dose we could give him. Anything more and it starts playing with your heart. If you give someone too much local anaesthetic their heart goes into a funny rhythm. We gave him 20ml before the match and 15ml at half-time. The maximum we could give him was 45mL.

Tim Sheens knowingly played Pat Richards in the 2005 decider with ankle ligament injuries - couldn't even finish the match.

Brett Morris played that match in Origin 2014 with a broken shoulder, permitted by coach Laurie Daley.
https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/brett-morris-bravely-played-most-of-state-of-origin-match-with-broken-shoulder-20140530-zrt6c.html

Wayne Bennett named Shane Webcke to START in the 2000 Grand Final despite having a broken arm.
https://www.broncos.com.au/news/2020/04/21/webcke-named-for-grand-final-despite-broken-arm/

Newcastle coach Malcolm Reilly named Andrew Johns in the 1997 decider after he had punctured his lung and broken two ribs in the prior 2 weeks.

Ricky Stuart named Chris Flannery in the 2004 Grand Final side, despite having ruptured a testicle the week prior.

So don't give us this nonsense rubbish that Madge is somehow different or uniquely dismissive of player welfare when I can so easily list off the most famous, most decorated coaches not just leaving injured players on the field, but knowingly naming them to play despite very significant existing injury and risk. Absolute baloney.

One of the reasons most of us love the game, spare us from the new age political bullshit.

That’s his biggest downfall, he doesn’t have one.

Watch anyone with some footy know how and they all say we have no identity on the field which is true. We’re not a gritty defensive team, nor are we a flashy attacking team.

Maguire has come in known for being a defensive coach and correct me if I’m wrong has us playing some of, if not the worst defence we’ve had in our existence. Now I understand the rules have shifted dramatically in the last 2 seasons but it’s Maguires inability to adapt which is most worrying.

The attack has improved but again, rule changes. We’ve literally outscored some teams in the top 8 but we are bottom 3 in defence. Genuinely believe if he stays next season, will get the spoon. I don’t see any dramatic changes happening in the off season where practically the same squad will just gel defensively

New rules reward attack and stifle defence. with defence its hard to compare YOY as its bad all round. even then if you are not top 2 you go backwards. blowouts are massive this year
