I'm not fussed about Butcher or HSS but it is the fact we can't even sign fringe first graders that is laughable
something seriously wrong with recruitment

Look at the style of football we play. Who would want to come to WTs to play that type of game?

Egan Butcher has re-signed with the Roosters. 2 year deal. NEXT!

If true there is another one to add a massive list of players who have said no thanks. The last few are happy to stay where they are and remain in the que for a first grade job.

Back to the drawing boards for the 100th time

I can't recall a team ever going after so many players and landing none of them. It must be some kind of record.

Have we gone after all of them, or has this forum said we have?

Pom said we’d gone after Butcher and advised us yesterday HSS was staying in Canberra. All the others were also confirmed on here by people in the know too. Players just don’t want to play here.

I hope there is a plan.

My correspondence with the CEO last week leads me to believe, the plan is.... we wait.
We wait for cap pressures at other clubs to force decent players to become available or unrest to arise and then we strike, like the Maumalo signing..

Clearly this isn't the BEST plan for some of us fans.
Definitely the slow / long game.
But, alas... trust the process.

Hopefully we land with Lomax type and not... Duran.

Lol before Maumalo the last 2 players we got out of that strategy was Reynolds and Mbye. Stoked for the future….

It sucks we didnt get them as i think both could have been handy but people need to realise that the vast bulk of players sign with the clubs they are currently with. Us not getting them means we didnt pay significant overs on what we believe they are worth.
Sucks but neither are going to be superstars imo both just good players.

You need to be realistic

If I was a childhood Tigers fan like Lomax was....

I'd make the move.
Challenge myself to take a team on the edge of medocority to GREATNESS.

Easier to take the easier way and sip Lates with Teddy and have an easy run and be looked at by the wider community of fans as cap cheats... then go the way where you'll be praised as a club great and respected by the fans for trying to challenge yourself.

We couldn’t sign any established players so we shifted our strategy to youth. Now we can’t sign them I wonder where we’ll be looking.

We play a style that is teaching the young up and comers the NRL ...its basic training while they learn how to adapt and handle the gruelling 80 mins needed to win games..
These guys have proven they cant handle pressure,they make many basic errors such as passing forward,dropping balls,giving 6 again and forcing themselves to defend more than they should,turning their backs on the attacking players,leaving gaps and not sliding and helping their teammate...So yeah we dont play a game which has great flair in attack or magnificent defense such as Storm or Panths for eg...
But we arent them,but with hard work and Madges coaching they may become a force such as some of the top 4 teams,it takes time and some pain but as a staunch supporter of the club I think we will get there in the not to distant future...

I like Seyfarth. local junior who works hard and has gone from strength to strength this year. during our best period of the year he was one of our best performers. he's a player you need to keep around the club.

the only players I see us re-signing from our off-contract pool is Mikaele and potentially Amone and Cini. both probably looking for long term security and will wait til the last minute to see what's on offer.

Comments suggesting it doesn't matter as they're only reserve graders are missing the point. These players were identified by us and we made them offers. They turned us down. There is no point having a youth strategy if we're unable to sign them.
