Dont panic we will probably sign Woods.?

Are you seriously happy with Woodsy return ?

He was our captain, walked out on us in a very tough, tough time (including the other 2 galahs). We're not interested in giving him a retirement payday cheque. It's a big no for me. What captain does that.

I was being Sarcastic!

Geez now we're whining over missing a reserve grader and a bench player. Might have been good for depth, but they're no better than what we already have.

I think the point is we can’t even attract those kinds of players. Good luck signing anyone more established.

Like Maumalo?

Another club's cast off. Hopefully there are a few more of them.

The Wests Tigers are the NRL equivalent of a house that has been furnished by raiding other council clean ups.

Comments suggesting it doesn't matter as they're only reserve graders are missing the point. These players were identified by us and we made them offers. They turned us down. There is no point having a youth strategy if we're unable to sign them.

The vast majority of NRL players will resign with their current clubs. This is not an issue unique to Wests Tigers. Do you think the Wests Tigers were the only club that identified either of these guys?

They are not the only two players we've gone after. We've gone after many other players that have signed with rival clubs.

So what? We are a club that isn’t very attractive because we have spent so much time near the bottom. That won’t change overnight.

You conveniently ignore all the junior talent we have signed because we missed out on 2.

What junior talent have we signed for next year? Can you point me in that direction?

these names have been in and around the media as well as rumoured on here. I would assume none are top 30, but they do classify as junior talent.

Dudley Dotoi
Jimmy Ngutlik
Herman Tofaeono
Chris Faagutu
Kiernan Tempest

also rumoured to be going after Tyrone Roberts & Shalom O'Ofou, both from the Dragons, and forum favourite Insideman has said we're chasing Jayden Sullivan after November 1, as well as persisting rumours about Franklin Pele that have been around for months.

moving in-house, we've apparently offered Jordan Hill a development contract and we're negotiating a new deal for Israel Ogden, both of which are important players in our backline moving forward. we saw a massive turnover in our junior grades last year, I assume Hartigan is doing plenty of work behind the scenes to do the same for next year.

Are they better than Mavoni Tuifua?

No good signing 16-18yo prodigies and then letting them go to other clubs.

We made them offers based on..?

The Pom. Do you believe the Pom's information to be incorrect?

I take all rumours with a grain of salt..

The Pom said HSS management contacted our management to say he's re-signing with Canberra. Why did they do that? Or are you saying they didn't do that and The Pom just made it up?

Courtesy ?

"Hey guys, we know you weren't interested in HSS but just wanted to tell you he's staying with Canberra as a courtesy"

lol

Pretty sure he said they contacted NRL clubs. Not specifically us. For what it's worth.

there's been plenty of questions surrounding Mavoni's motor for ages. I think he has the ability to be a first grader but it we may just have more faith in players like Fonua Pole and Sione Tupou and potentially Pele if the rumours are true and we pick him up.

A very good mate of mine is a journo in NZ.

Apparently the Tigers are looking at a number of the outside backs in the NPC (which is the level below Super Rugby). No names but he says there is massive potential there.

Thanks for the info.

It seems sad. We can't get 2nd level league players, so lets chase 2nd level union players.

I think the circumstances may have changed.

He was essentially considered depth behind Croker and Kris, maybe a few others like Simonsen... and with injuries was given his chance, proved his worth now things have changed and he's forced himself into the plans.

Another example would be Papenhcantspell.
It was reported he was shopped to every club with no interest, was behind Drinkwater and Hughes then he got his chance and made the most of it. Now he's essentially the storm first choice fullback and just re-signed.

?‍♂️ It happens.

a lot of people will say we're scraping the bottom of the barrel here, but I think this shows the willingness to unearth talent by our football department. good move imo.

24 if the CO for Joey and Roberts aren’t actioned.

They seem to be looking at PNG and England as well, so no stone left unturned, looking good.

Every offseason is carnage these days, I would not be at all surprised if many more players hit the market after the finals.

Of the last 15 players to play their first match for Wests, 9 of them were off-season signings or mid-season transfers. We don't do as much horse trading in the regular season (for next year).

Who have we added to the roster so far, other than 2 ESL players?

So you want me to name players we have signed without naming the players we have signed? ?‍♂️

Seriously anyone that doesn't see that there is a HUGE issue with recruitment at the moment is blind

But we dont know what the club has in mind as far as recruitment goes...their not going to let us know everyday what their up to...

The club appears not to know what it has in mind as far as recruitment goes Bringing the Seyfarth re-signing out now tells us all we need to know.

So you are making something negative about something that is positive?

I like Seyfarth and if you search way back that goes to his SG Ball days. Releasing his re-signing at near the time we get word of Egan re-signing with the Roosters is ordinary.

The club didn’t release the non signings, but they should release actual signings when they happen.

You can’t have it both ways either you trust POM and his info or you don’t believe him.

POM mentioned that both Seyfarth and Mikalee have been offered extensions. Now he mentioned the other week an update to Mikalee though no official announcement has been made yet there was no news of Seyfarth even though POM first announced that he has an extension deal waiting to be signed.

Oh so now it appears all to convenient that the club announcement of Seyfarth resigning was timed so that it lessens the blow of missing out on Egan.

Please…

How good is Mavoni Tuifua?

Not sure, has never played first grade. When he was signed there were highlight video posted here and comments around getting the gun youngsters is the future of the tigers success.

Now we have another half a dozen kids named, The fact is that signing 16-18 year olds has limited benefit. They are highly unlikely to be ready for first grade under that contract and if they do show ability, you will need to fend off other clubs to keep them.

Getting players on the cusp of first grade (Laurie & Stefano) is a far better option.

Who are the youngsters that we have signed and brought through to first grade? I think if you look at our history of development players since they started, the outcomes have been average at best.

We have just re-signed Mikaele & Seyfarth, but being honest these guys are depth players at other clubs (if contracted at all), not players that will be cornerstones of a pack moving forward.

Seriously our recruitment is embarrassing.

Regarding Luke Thompson the Bulldogs want to keep him. The issue is he has an option in his contract for 2023. It’s big money 850k no club will pay and the Dogs would prefer to have that available. Any new deal he won’t take less than 850k over the next two seasons and wants another 2 until 2025.

It will work for both clubs if Dogs pay 250k a season over the next 2 years and Tigers average a contract at 550k a year. I can see if happening it’s a bad contract the Dogs have signed for a prop.

Outside of Haas, Fisher Harris, Asofa Solomona and maybe Paulo you can’t justify that sort of money.

I would be concerned paying Thompson that amount due to the form and potential of Stefano. If anyone deserves more $ as a prop it is him.

I have no doubt the club will increase and extend Stefano by next year. I think he’s got a 3 year deal
Thompson around 500k - 550k a year is a solid addition. He would compliment Stefano smaller and fast and has aggression. May assist in getting English players also if that’s a angle Sheens is looking at. Would be the second best prop we have by a wide margin.

Isn't that what the Bulldogs are doing? They're made out to be the leaders in good recruitment decisions. Meanwhile they are TWELVE points behind us (for context if you add 12 points to us we're equal 4th and in front of Manly and Parra), and can't re-sign their best forward.

Flanagan
Allan
TPJ
Vaughan
Dufty

Are all other club's cast offs. Burton and JAC are the only players their original club wanted to keep.
