Matterson has lots to offer. Imo he's never been afraid to do the hard work on the field. I'd be glad to have him back next year now we have papali'i.

Hard work on the field? Didn't he have a big tantrum and fallout with Maguire because he was asked to play Lock and he didn't want to play as a middle forward for the team?

Papalii is as good a second rower signed by anyone this year. Better than tpj and Fifita in terms of all round player. Really pleased to have him for less than 700k. That's just a bit surprising really. Whether it works out or not, it was an absolute quality get by the club.

Even anticipating he doesn't quite get to the supreme heights of this year (when he was the best second rower in the league) he should do a lot to solidify one of our biggest weaknesses (edge defense) and he's an attacking threat as well.

Also changes the narrative around the club and recruitment.

Hopefully by mid to late in season 22 we have a good idea who is our long term 5/8 and what Hastings position is.

I'd have Logen Dillon as our fullback...something about this kid has star quality. Laurie our long term 5/8 and Hastings in at half-back.

His personality would not stand a downgrade in payments from us to return to our club, his asking price has suffered a devaluation since joining the slimmers mainly due to concussion and injuries

His options may not allow him to knock anything back

No club is gonna offer him 700K he either takes the 500K Tigers have offered or he goes elsewhere and hopes someone will pay him more than we will if he’s lucky a club might go 600K but that’s all he will get and that’s if he gets lucky

If we cant get Paulo , I reckon Tapau would be a good short term option to show the young guys the way. Werent Manly showing him the door?

Rumoured they were willing to offload him but even if they are I doubt he’ll come back to the club he didn’t leave on the best of terms so I don’t think he’ll come back
