Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'd throw Angus money to Martin at Panthers see what happens.

We need to do the same thing we did with Papalli and Api. Certain players go for overs. Missing out on Nikora is a classic example. You let those ones go.

If you have some bullets to fire hopefully you can grab a player who their club won't offer as much to retain.

I'd love Crichton but it sounds like a pipe dream unless we are paying a fortune which we shouldn't do.

If for some reason we could keep Luc and pay the amount he was to get at the cows I would do it , times ticking away with no additions , Martin from Panthers would be great but we can’t wait 2 years for him
back row of Luc and Papi would be very good , Joe at Lock adds again and add API in there with Brooks and Hastings that’s a pretty tidy pack , up front Stef and Musgrave and I would go all out for another prop and a centre , and grab young Dykes
we would still Have Twally and maybe Tamou on the bench , simple call a meeting with Luc say we want you to stay and we match the cows offer , not that hard and it would mean we pay a bit of overs for 1 player

I'm happy to move luch on doesn't excell enough 4 me

You're are talking too much sense.

Second Row is a concern tho, we have 1 good one and 3 leaving. Other one always injured. At what point is it panic stations. No one in the juniors is NRL standard yet like Cowboys.

Any update to dykes longer it goes usually doesn't happen.
Dykes deal still requires commitment to get it over the line…club will not allow this to procrastinate

Not sure Liam Martin would be as good away from the Panthers. I see them similar to Melbourne, you have to be wary signing players from there because they're in a great system and full of confidence.

He'd still be good, but I don't think he's worth 700k to a struggling club.

Let’s face it , we signed are two gun forwards before any of us knew , we never sign anyone when it’s out in the open , so I would say we won’t be getting any players that are been mentioned

We need to be patient. Overpaying won't get us anywhere. I'm applauding management.
Agreed - panicking is what got Tigers into this mess in the first place, every year since 2012.

Tim Sheens panicked when he thought he was on the outer after 2010-2011.

The new coaches (JT, Potter) panicked when it appeared the Board would not give them a decent tenure to implement roster and cultural changes.

Cleary manoeuvred for high cost high risk signings, and we now know he always had one eye on the Penrith throne.

For the first time in a decade the Board has given the coach (a) time, and (b) support to built a long-lasting roster and cultural change at the club. Unfortunately that does not mean quick success and a result like 2005 is usually the exception not the rule.

I am personally glad to have fewer and fewer selfish money-grabbing heartless mercenaries at the club. If Euan Aitken says he wants a silly amount of money, you tell him "no thanks" and walk away from the deal. And you negotiate this way 100% of the time, so prospective players are aware of what they are dealing with. "You've gotta pay overs" is only said by clueless pundits or desperate fans who have no responsibility for or knowledge of the club's salary cap.

Because these guys who drag you through the ringer to get their signature - that's a reflection of personal character, and that will not change when they join your club, or the next time they are off contract. And it will not contribute to the cohesive culture of your club either. That's the downside of signings those Israel Folaus, Jarryd Haynes, Sonny Bills, Tedescos etc. They are in it for their own brand.

Until the NRL register the new contract, technically yes. However both parties have made their desired positions clear
Unfortunately for players, what the Roosters desire can change very rapidly.

Sure they'll take care of you financially, but if a shiny new Ferrari comes to the market, they will happily put you out to pasture. If rumours are to be believed, they are doing this with Keary right now.

Quite possible, and don't forget that 95% of the information floated in the media is done by the player managers, with a specific agenda.

E.g the article above that Liam Martin has knocked back Penrith's first offer. That is possibly less about wanting to field offers from other clubs, and more about publicly telling Penrith to improve their offer. Nikora did the same thing to the Sharks - public pressure is a proven strategy.

Look let's be honest we were lucky to miss out on the big money targets whoever was running running show previously.

TPJ, JAC, lattrell not worth the value for various reasons.

News now we shopping liddle, did madge do that contract?? I have little faith he knows what he is doing. Laurie's his only okay Signing.

I'm glad sheens and co are now working in this space. But really, the club should provide us an update. Has Sheens done an interview once on WT website and told fans and members what's going on, not once. I still don't know what he does apart from him saying several times hes not coaching.

With how poor the club are doing it would be nice to be more informed with what's doing in the future.

Noone has a clue what's doing apart from vague info on here from some posters. Media has no clue.
Laurie's his only okay signing?

Laurie, Doueihi, Utoikamanu, Ofahengaue, Hastings, Api, Simpkin, Papali'i....

What.

They were also considering the union convert Lachy Miller...

Bulldogs trying to strengthen a clear weakness.

Wish we'd do the same.

@ centre.
Lachie is a Coffs Harbour boy.

Good bloodlines in that town.

Sheen's did not panic he just wanted to complete with the bigger clubs and try to win the title and knew he could not compete with the TPA's he rolled the dice and should have won in 2010 and could have in 2011 good on him for having the stones to do it

And don't blame him for 2014 onwards because alot of contacts was renewed under Potter and the board went over Potters head head to sign massive contacts

Agree with that… ESL will pick him up…

With the terrible injury run we have had this season, it is hard to gauge what shape our roster is in as far as the near future goes. Okay we definitely need one NRL standard backrower, but I think a healthy roster and we would push a lot of teams.
