Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Easily our worst signing, a JT special, played 3 games in 2 years, for a grand total of about 50 minutes on the field across those 3 games
And cost us about $500,000 to pay Robbie to play elsewhere, plus the club fine and CEO suspension from the release 😂

I read somewhere last year that Gildart would need easing into the NRL. I believe it mentioned he was a project.

We played him in the centres for what, the first 6 or 7 games, then dropped him never to play first grade again.

Maybe he should’ve played KOE cup for the first 6 or 7 games? Bennett will probably turn him into a top NRL player.

He looked ordinary in reserve grade.

What I don’t understand is why Madge or some professional assistant coach couldn’t see over the off season that he had no idea in D?
But I guess that is why we are now looking for a coach.
Why did we end up with Gildart and not the Knights' winger? Perhaps I'm being harsh but we had money to spend.

Completely different situations. Dom Young turned up to trial basically with the Knights, a completely raw kid who wanted a shot.

We needed a center and Gildart was an established GB international center who had played tests and GFs. (And also broken down more than Josh Reynolds).

Getting rid of Gildart a MASSIVE plus...

But...

Is his spot simply going to Triston Reilly? (Who was supposed to be quick, but is actually slow...and has looked terrible in state cup so far)

We need a gun center. Not all these left field dunces who are long odds to make it.

What knights winger?
And was it a choice, two blokes standing there one is a winger from newy and the other an international centre?
Anyway I reckon one of our many so called pro coaches should have identified that he was a spaz over the off season.

Isn't Reilly on a trial and train contract at present? I'm not sure if he is automatically promoted? Is there a gateway?

I got a heap of Leeds mates that are spewing he's coming - They don't rate him and never have....
I feel his rep player status may have come at an opportune time when the other guys were unavailable...

I don't see anything in him even is ressies that says he's an NRL player.

Someone posted he was train and trial...but the club's official press release indicated he has a two year NRL contract (which would be absurd)

Reilly has a very strong league pedigree having represented Newcastle Knights in Harold Matthews and South Sydney in SG Ball, before crossing codes.

He joins the club on a train and trial deal for the rest of this season before moving into the club’s 30-man roster in 2023 and 2024.
