The more prep and planning, resources for next year the better. Like you said it's a big ugly job he has next season.

More than anything next season I dont want to hear 'they trained well but didnt do it on the day' Im sick of that excuse. Not that I expect a win every game but if they train well, doing the basics plus whatever special moves the coach wants them to do, and they dont do it on game day its inexcusable. Players have to be dropped, similarly coaching / motivation staff kicked up the backside and good performance, doing the basics right and being competitive a minimum expectation of every game..

How in hell do you attract even mid range players when the team is absolutely busted. You can offer inflated overs but even that is unlikely to work.

The pathways is the only road but will take time and we still need some quality to mentor them. The short term is pretty bleak and long term it’s hard to be optimistic.

The whole distribution of talent needs to be addressed but of course we are talking NRL who will not upset the power brokers of the game.

Not sure what our cap situation is like moving forward but this is the only play I can think of. Identify 5 quality players being underutilized at their current club. Invite them all to dinner/drinks. Tell them that you know that the club isn't attractive for one player but if we can recruit 4 or 5 of you to the club together we will be a whole new team. Give them each an envelope with their offer. Offer a little overs to each of them. Tell them the offer is firm as we can't increase one without decreasing another. Leave the dinner with an open bar tab and hope they bond and want to join together.
Beyond something like that I can't see why any one player would be interested.

Your post clearly stated bring in top tier players. Can you list out the 6 top tier players they've bought in ?

TPJ, JAC, Burton and who else ?

I'd love to do what you state but it's never happened in our history (and to my knowledge no club has ever been able to do this) and I can't see it happening now.

There is no doubt in my mind that Shines has completely screwed this season over with the support from Pascoe and the board. I'd be cool with that if improvement came next year and we could recruit a bunch of good players.

At the moment their record of singing players is zero. Api and IP who are fantastic signings were signed under Madge.

I'd be interested in hearing about 6 top tier potential recruits.

For christ sake, who are you talking about doggies or us, because I was referring to what dogs have done.
And they have purchased stronger players than the ones they had.

We have one player ( Ofahengaue ) who would be top 10 in his position throughout the premiership, we're paying big money for absolute duds and the laughable thing is they want more, they want to play where they want to play and they want a say on who plays around them. The club has to draw a line, you get x amount for a first grade standard player, extra for your standing in a particular position and rep. status ( with regular S.O.O. player the highest ). If they don't like it try the market but don't come back to us. They've basically blooded no-one at this end of the season, I just don't buy they won't play a kid because they don't want to expose them to thrashings like last night, we'll be in the same boat this time next year so they won't be blooded again .

A strong board would take a stand and make a real change. They would announce a press conference and roll out Sheens and Benji and 3 major signings. They would announce a permanent home ground and an identity at the same time. They would announce that this is the moment we are no longer the competition’s whipping boys. We will get more excuses, blame games, grandstanding and mediocrity.

Have they ? Luc was gone anyway. Gildart and Nofo unless they are released have contracts with us for next season.

If there were longer term benefits for us we should see those benefits. They could even get the Pom to come on and explain the situation.

A good question is does it matter if we come last or 9th ? My take is coming last is pretty bad. It might impact recruitment and retention whereas coming 9th may make the team more appealing.

Time will tell though. I think we have to get to the finals within the next couple of years.

Bit more money in the cap.

If those boys come back they will be better for the experienced at a good club

The past 3 and half seasons madge has basically done nothing and escapes criticism due to the way he was sacked.

I just think it's incorrect to point the finger at sheens now. You'll have plenty of opportunity next year.

I cant name one player that improved under Madge. Most went backwards. Even players like the Ute, who started to show promise and then deteriorated. Twal. Brooks, Liddle, Simpkin, Kenny, Douehi etc, they all went backwards. Whilst I liked the man, as a coach, we were just treading water. We should have got rid of him at the end of last year.

Totally agree..coming last has a major effect on recruitment..unless u have a messiah like Gus providing hope for change

Dogs have taken two seasons to get rid of all players not wanted, and purchase the ones they do want, the team of current players they have at the moment will add KIKAU FROM PENRITH AND MAHONEY FROM PARRAMATTA NEXT YEAR,

AND LET ANOTHER COUPLE GO,

AND THEY ARE STILL FISHING.

I was referring to the players currently playing for Wests Tigers and signed signed with Wests Tigers for 2023, 2024 and maybe 2025. Many of these would want to string along for the good life with Wests Tigers for at least another two years.

The reason I'm pointing the finger at Sheens is that he had taken the following actions since coming here:-

1. Sacked Madge.
2. Let Luc go.
3. Loaned out Gildart and Nofo.

These actions are all on Sheens and they've made us a worse team and some would state significantly worse.

Now I'll be extremely supportive of Sheens if for instance he signs Munster for next season but I can't see it happening.

We need some benefits in relation to the decisions that have been made above.

Admittedly I don't know what is going on behind the scenes. Maybe the players released or loaned out were bad influences.

You are right in that we have to see what happens next season.

We are though at a pretty low point.

Dont forget Mikaele. Anybody that really thinks Freebairn and Dias are the future are really kidding themselves.

we should have enough money to be able to let 7 or 8 move to other clubs, and buy at least 5 or 6 top liners, why are we now saying, things like we will keep brooks, but only if we can retain him for $500.000, He has really done nothing in the 9 years he has been at the club, do you really think paying him half price will make him play any better.

I don’t think u know that the dogs have somehow got around the salary cap either with TPA from there sponsors. We complain about brooks money but we only have him and no one near his wages , the dogs have 5-6 players on more than $650,000 and Thompson on $800,000 odd . It’s also worth remembering the dogs were done cheating the cap before , SO do u think the tigers could sign all there gun players and be under the cap , do the maths

Now if that involved him coaching, I don’t know the answer.
But given that scenario, the question now is whether they need to appoint another manager of football operations and take that off Sheens. At least for the next 2 years.
Then he can be judged on his coaching , he can’t be responsible for both.
