Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Name me the outstanding players you are comparing him to in the Tigers, after Teddy, Woods, and Moses left. What player in the side, over this period, has tried as hard ! His contract his not his fault, his slack forwards were not his fault, his slow and dumb backline was not his fault, .
I don.t know if it is him , or the crap sides we have had, but this hatred is childish bully stuff.
I don't hate anyone. This protecting this bloke from criticism is what's had the Tigers going nowhere for 10 years, why is Brooks above criticism he provides nothing he's the only half I know that constantly kicks in to blokes legs.
As soon as you criticise him, I hate him and am a bully. Give me a break. In the NRL he would just scrape into the top10 halfbacks in the comp. He provides no leadership, no spark in attack, he needs to up his game or needs to be shown the door.

I wrote this before and no one responded. It's ok, I didn't expect everyone to be interest everyone but I wonder if anyone has any information on this.......
I know the NRL has a history of failed English backs, our own Gildart being the latest, but this Welsby guy looks different. When you watch the highlights video, you see outstanding talent and with his combination of speed, toughness and passing ability, you have to think he'd really transition well. This is definitely a guy we should go hard for but how realistic a chance are we to sign him? I've heard there would be an enormous transfer fee and that St. Helens are not keen to release him. Thoughts?

called Gildart being a failure with us before he ran out due to his lack of body size contact experience.

Welsby in our side would be another AD and Mbye. He isnā€™t the halfback we need and not convinced he could make a fullback role his own. Sheens loves these types of players though & he is high energy.

He is a good little player but is a master or many not 1 and just donā€™t see how he would make it in the NRL especially in a side that doesnā€™t actually know who is who in key positions. Think Welsby joining wonā€™t be a success for us or him. For the $$$ it will cost us think we should go other directions

Interesting Parra Keary talk is getting some wings this could indicate Mitch might be on his way.

Brooks protected? Are joking, on what forum is that, coz itā€™s not this one.
But please do not derail the thread with another brookā€™s debate coz I am not Brooks bias one way or the other, I just want the best 7 playing for the Tigers. But to say Brooks is protected on here, well thatā€™s just not true mate.
No matter what we formumers think Tim obviously rates him.

Yeah ! But but it won't go far with flat tires up front, and pot holes outside of you ! ha! More bashers of 1 guy, What's your opinion of the other 16? That you all fail to mention.
Great post Sleeve. They are great signings in the forwards and we should be able to find a few pacey backs from the lower grades. Ken Mamaulo tries hard and is strong but I don't believe he has the pace Sheens will require on the wings. Coates, JAC and Cobbo are examples of where we should be aiming.

And the Ford Escort. Had two of them.
Escort panel van was my first car. It was great for a young bloke on the move. You could Kip in it, dutch in it, and also get it a rocking.
If we sign another Pom I hope itā€™s the ruski lad, but really I hope our next signing is a top shelf back.

Someone posted a comment about Feledy being short at 180cm. Then another said that most players today, were over that height. Well i looked at four of the sides player profiles, centres and wingers,to be exact. Well i was blown away, he was right, NRL is the land of the giants, most were over 184cm.

Yes you can assume I have no idea how much money they spend behind closed doors. But I am not the one making an argument that the club should have done more.

The rest of what you say is just talk.

No club has ever successfully brought a case against the NRL for results on a field. Not Geoff Toovey's "there's got to be an investigation", nor other notorious referee calls (e.g. Roosters-Raiders Grand Final, Turbo's match-winning forward pass etc.). There's no precedent. No club has even attempted to bring a case based on a ref's decision, let alone win one - not even attempted to do it.

I also personally think it shows a bad culture if you are to kick and scream over results. It sends another kind of message when you blame others for your bad situation and kick stones and make legal threats instead of just getting on with your season. Certainly no player should ever have that mindset.

Your analogy with the on-site crew isn't relevant. NRL players still get paid. The conditions under which they perform did not change. Nobody at the Tigers was left out of pocket or unfairly treated by workplace law. Half those players aren't even with the club any more.

My acceptable formula is to spend all the money you have on development and culture internally, and spend none of it pissing away on pointless legal action. Because bet your bottom dollar, should the Tigers have brought a frivolous case, losing and potentially even facing a penalty (e.g. paying NRL's legal fees), they would have been slammed by fans and the media for wasting time and money, for being losers, and now you have head office off-side in any future dealings where you try to get the NRL to do you a favour.

Lee H may indeed be arrogant and lack football smarts, but he's a very successful lawyer, and surely, if anything, a club with a lawyer as Chairperson should be heeding that lawyer's advice.
Statements like " no club has sucessfully brought a case against the NRL & won" & there is no precedent" show why this club has the culture of losing in recent times. Without stating the obvious,a prececdent has to be set at some time by courageous individuals so others can refer to it. No one had climbed Mount Everest at one time till someone courageous did it. Your arguments of "No one has ever done so we cant , or there is not precedent" so we cant is flawed reasoning & loser talk . For example, we had no chance last year to win the premiership , so applying your reasoning, we should not of fielded a team & try to complete. Abosolute baloney.
The other cases you refer to were individual bad ref decisions & those mistakes are part of the game. The Tigers case was different as there was multiple errors & to top off the coruption a review was given to the Cowboys & a legal review from the Tigers was denied. The Tigers had the oppurtunity to expose the corruption for the good of all the clubs, & show their mettle in the process. We weakly decided to take the course you clearly support. As a result , the NRL has now been given the mandate to blatantly do whatever they want.

The settlement out of court for the Cowboys Ref debacle paid for Bateman's transfer fee. šŸ˜»

Youā€™re right Champ, the degree of difficulty is important when considering the achievement. Like Macartney- Snape going up that north face without supplementary oxygen.

Yes correct , poor bloke just cops it left right and centre. Not sure what these haters really want , we finished last, we have install sheens and co , to right the ship . So far they have signed KLEMMER, Bateman , Staines and hopefully Moses now if thatā€™s not a great start , I give up . How about we start supporting our team , or at lease untill

From that video highlights package, Welsby looks out of the box. Call me irresponsible but I'd roll the dice with him even if he costs us big bickies. He's 21, very fast, can pass, can tackle and has a bit of aggression in him. Plus he's only 21. I'd much rather invest in him than Moses.

Did Moses say he wanted to have his future announced before Christmas? Or do you just think that he meant ā€œhis decisionā€? With the announcement of Bateman you could assume he has made his decisionā€¦but what decision he has made could still go either way!
