Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

All 3 of them have talent, but none of them appear to be near fit enough to play with high intensity as someone such as Jack Williams always does.
Anyone can get extremely fit if they really want to, let’s hope one of those 3 realise what an opportunity they have been given and transform themselves into a player that plays the game with high intensity.
I just hope whoever we recruit for prop, lock & edge have elite line speed in defence, elite effort on kick chases & quick leg speed/power in attack ... be quite refreshing!

When next season starts Matamua will be 21, Kit will be 20 and Faagutu will be 21.

To me it's clear that Matamua has shown the most out of those 3 at this stage given he has played test and a decent amount of nrl.

Faagutu is the one to drop but obviously it depends on a lot of factors that none of us know
I won't disagree.

Given the topic- one or all NEEDS to play some #13 for the rest of the season or we go into next year with just as many questions. If Matamua is fit- surely he has to play so we at least know.

If I'm Matamua, I'm getting super-fit in the off season and really working on my line speed & effort in defence for '25. Just too passive atm (like most of our pack).

Sam is way more explosive than Lane. Imagine if Manly held on to Sam. Him on one side, Hamoule on the other - wow!

Lane is lame in my opinion.

Size is good in league in the air - nothing more.

Hence why the Choad (before he came to us) was good.
Rubbish , Sam is learning his trade , lane can be a really danger with his offloads , have them on either side would be fantastic

If he's not thinking this himself, he deserves the tap on the shoulder.

Kick chase & line speed are 'addable' skills for any player. You do not have to be ultra talented to have good line speed, and chase a kick. But you do need to have the desire to do it.

If Matamua can make this part of his game- his defence is surprisingly decent as it stands- but if he can be a tone setter for the 1% efforts, he IS the starting #13.

In his favour- in the 4 games he STARTED at Lock, we won 2.

Would anyone consider Ryan Matterson again for an edge spot? (potentially 13)

I personally would find it hard to support him thanks to his past exit, but would there be any value in exploring it if Parra chip in and we get him at a decent price? Hes a flog but was solid when here.

Sezer might be another actually. I’m hoping Faataape and Alaimalo aren’t retained.

I’m hoping we get some clarity on Makasini, O. Large, Taupau-Moors and Godinet as well, but that may be pie in the sky.
Given how Faataape has had the inside running for most of the year and is apparently undroppable, hard to see him not being around in some capacity. Benji seems to love him.

Sezer I understand for the backup ability, but given how poor he has been, again on the weekend, surely that only happens if Bud does indeed get moved on.

NOT. AT. ALL.
Despite being a piece of shit as a human being, the grub isnt even playing well.

He is a good footballer but we don’t need him back here , he bailed on us in the past so def a no for mine

Yep bit of both. The only match I've seen our kick chase work well was against the Raiders.

The coaches really need to drum into our players ... CHASE FAST, CHASE HARD, CHASE TOGETHER, EFFORT ON EFFORT ON EFFORT!

I hope they are smashed in the pre-season to determine the strong from the weak, the fit from the lazy!
If I was coaching the first month would be S.A.S training with a proper drill instructor. To teach them teamwork and mentally and physically push their limits. Give them a week off then get them on the field.

Sometimes it is far more lucrative to remain in a successful situation.
For example, life after footy would be a lot better for well known winners in terms of marketing possibilities, employment, guest speaking etc.
As an executive, do you want a 4 time premiership winner who played heaps of rep footy or a 2 time winner who then went to a shit club and vanished?
Better representative prospects, better post football prospects to balance out the salary loss and the opportunity to actually enjoy their football. Hard to see why anyone wouldn't knock back the overs to play at a successful club.
Plus there is very little lifestyle difference between 600k and 700k as opposed to 100 and 200k.
