Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Checking out Canberra's roster.

They have an opposite roster to us. So heavy on the forwards, so light on the backs.
A rookie fullback, No named backs other then Xavier Savage. It seriously looks like they could do with some of our backs.

Yet they have a stacked forward pack. Ok stacks of Props but a few 2RF...

Curious who we would swap with Ricky. I could see Ricky needing Starford Toa or Naden, either as starters or depth. It's a really shallow canberra backline. While it's prop heavy, there are 2RF and locks we could bring here.
Fogarty, Sanders/Strange, Kris, Timoko, Weekes, Savage, Chevy Stewart,
Hopoate,
Plus a handful of good young kids. They don't need Naden or T'oa as much as we do.

Zac Hoskings... been knocking on the door for a while, and wouldn't cost a lot.
Mature player, that has moved from and played with with Broncos, Penrith systems before moving to the Raiders. Had an injury last year, high energy player with great D and runs a great line. ls contracted to 2026 though.

Surely we can’t allow Klemmer to access his player option without a significant restructuring of his contract. What’s he worth in 2026? $800k plus? Too old for that coin and we will still be paying off Bateman and potentially Sullivan.

I think his contract was frontended.

he was on $650k last year, pretty sure he’s on $600k or thereabouts this year. would assume the option is for less, but we still can’t afford to keep him around.

The only way that happens is either through injury, or dropping our forward leader.

My understanding is hes on $800k next year, and to trigger that hes gotta play 14 games this year
Hes a solid NRL prop...no more no less...probably worth $500-600k max..so weve got make our mind up as to negotiations going fwd
If he wants to stick to original contact at $800k ...kewl..
.he plays 13 games in 25 ... unless were in semi final contention, where we may need his services in 25 to get the job done
.If not.its c u later cause yr just too darned expensive and a legacy of when we were perennial wooden spooners an accordinly desperate and were desperate.
Think weve moved on
Again Im figuring Richo is all over this

They're no name backs are better than any of ours. Their 3rd centre option is better than our 1st. Timoko is a gun, Kris is solid both kiwi reps. Strange is only just coming through but already shown more than any of our centres. Hopoate does more work/averages more metres than either of our wing recruits.
Their spine is a combination of not good and inexperienced but we don't really have any spine players we can afford to give up.
