Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Any draft is a restraint of trade - and the Terry Hill common law precedent cannot be re-written without consent of EVERY player who aspires to play NRL!

The NBA/NFL/MLB drafts are only viable because of the College ranks serving as their independent pathway system - and players nominating for the draft at their preferred development stages!

Any rugby league draft only serves as a disincentive for NRL clubs invest into player development & local pathways - and the entire development system would be blown up!

The VFL/AFL draft is a symptom of a bottom-feeding nothing sport run by a front office with absolute power - and no other options for kids who want to professionally play that sack of garbage!
The development systems in the afl academies seem to be fine. Terry Hill already had a contract signed with Wests when he had been drafted by the Roosters. But if players are off contract where's the precedent. In terms of how the games run. I love league but it's a mickey mouse semi professional comp.

Good signing if we are letting Staines and Naden go. Can play but injury prone.
If there is any truth to the story about him being critical of Wests Tigers over the Galvin saga then surely he has a severe case of foot in mouth disease in addition to any other injuries that he may have.

PASS.

The AFL is a banana republic - not sure how those Academies work for the remote WA/NT & Tiwi Islander kids etc.

The NRL is heading that way too - but the Hill case precedent is black & white!

There can NEVER be a draft regardless of the RLPA - as any single player who may be excluded or aggrieved who challenges it in court will WIN - as it is a blatant restraint of trade under Australian common law...

He’s not worth 200k as a 13, but he’s definitely worth 500k as a 7 or 6.
You say he is not getting the 7 spot here, well why did he get it last weekend if Benji doesn’t see him as a 7 who can help win us games ?
Why did we chase Adam Reynolds if we are so confident Latu is a must selection for us at 7 ?
Why does our team look so much better when Doueihi is playing 7 ?
Why does Luai look so much more comfortable and more composed when Doueihi is playing 7 ?
If we are serious about trying to make the top 8 in 2026 we should be paying Douehi the 500k he is asking for and letting both he and Latu battle it out for our starting 7 position with whoever loses out being our permanent number 14.
Gee there were a lot people saying he should never play in the halves again after that Parramatta game, now all of a sudden everyone wants him as a half back, maybe he can be, but one thing that we do know for sure is that he inconsistent.

Let's see how he goes in our last 4 games before we even think about committing to pay him half back money.

I think after looking after him through his injuries, some of it while he was on pretty good dollars, I think he owes it to us to see out the regular season before making a decision about signing anywhere.

You know what's funny, for the last roughly 18 months when Galvin debuted non stop every opportunity gus would not stop talking on TV or podcasts about Galvin the best junior ever, his going to do this, that and whatever, but now gus has him at the dogs gus won't say a word, on 100 % footy chamas asked the question about a injury, didn't look like gus was going to answer, Emma asked did he get injured during the game, gus said, well he didn't get injured carrying his bag to the game. What a rude, smart ass prick
Who Gus or Galvin?

I would think both. 🤣
