Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You have completely missed the point again.
You can’t say this bloke hasn’t had the cattle when he has been in charge of recruitment since mid 2022. He has been able to get a host of experienced players to join the club. He has built this team.
Making excuses for a coach who isn’t getting results isn’t being positive. Suggesting ways to strengthen this department isn’t complaining. This is a forum where ideas are exchanged. I think he desperately needs help.
Was going to argue the finer points. But overall, yea agreed Benji has been crap and needs to own it.

One thing though, Madge failed to land Latrell and failed to land JAC.
Had we got JAC we would have pushed 9-12, not 13-16 IMHO.
Had we got Mitchell, we would have been in the 8 IMHO.

Benji and Sheens actually got some names. Sure Klemmer wasn't that impressive, Bateman was meant to be impressive. Luai is a 4 time premiership holder and kudos to Benji landing him.

Yet you have to go WTF. If Benji approved Klem and Bateman, why? Then it all broke down... I suspect Sheens was still in charge.

After that it was the great Halfback begging circus. "Hey Mitchell Pearce, come back", "Hey Shawn Johnson as your retiring in NZ... give us a go Pleeze" "hey Adam Sezer.. wow your still playing. Hey come down and be our Halfback!". Last one took the bait and we still Begged Adam Reynolds*... But we did Land Luai.

Benji still hasn't got his team, he is missing the Halfback. But he has done better at recruitment then almost going back to Potter bringing Pat Richards back.

It's the conversion of the recruited talent to onfield performance that has let us down. Only the May's have exceeded expectation.
We only signed him for 4 more years!! Damn I hope they will be good years.

*this is one of the biggest failures I am pissed off at Madge for.

People ranting about the impact Bateman and Klemmer made when we had Brooks and Wakeham as our starting halves in 2023. Come on, It was a pig of a roster and you have to start somewhere. Geez its a bit old news now isn't it? Couple of veterans while the likes of Pole and the Fainus come through. What year is it?

One thing that slips under the radar a bit is Benji has also been really good at getting rid of the deadwood pretty quick.

Do you actually talk like this at footy games? Have you even seen grass or drank a beer? Are you a virgin? Lighten up hahahaha. It's footy, its the tigers. I can't help but feel like you have a profound misunderstanding of the club you support and what that means.

I was 17 years old at Benji's debut and he played footy like a Pablo Picasso painting, man it was so, so, so, so, so good for many many fantastic years after that, and I don't care about much else except I just hope that bloody legend is as successful as a coach as he was a player. Just imagine it man. Club is getting some swagger again with legit good players and cult heros, and good youngsters too. Man I'd take today over those miserable dour seasons with Madge, Jason Taylor and Potter!

No one is 'gaslighting' anyone on here. The Tigers' record over the last decade is too terrible to even attempt to 'gaslight' -- (That is if you actually understand the etymology of gaslighting") We can't retroactively sneak in a Top 8 finish into tigers history, hahaha and tell you we finished in the top 4 last year, and make you doubt your sanity. It’s probably the least gaslight-able thing in existence,.
I have had quite a few discussions on here over this topic in the past week. This is the least educated and lowest intellect response I’ve read so congratulations.
You are so upset that I think your boyhood hero isn’t a very good coach that you resort to salty name calling and tryhard character attacks? I think you are the one who needs a life champ. Maybe grow up while you are at it?
For the record, I also think Benji was an exceptionally talented attacking player and I enjoyed his work….more the first time he was here than the second, but I was still a fan.
I don’t hate the guy at all, despite being disappointed how he became coach and unsurprised how he has gone in the role since. If he is to be the coach for another heap of years, then he needs help.
Otherwise we waste the team that has been building.

Richo was a big part of that too
The part Marshall played was most of them couldn’t get along with or didn’t like his coaching style and the way he ran things.
I agree Richo played a bigger part but that also involved him not being able to hold on to what he had or still wanted.
In some cases we are better off in others, it remains to be seen.
I think we have definetly let players walk away who we still need.
Hopefully those losses end up like Woods rather than Teddy and Moses.

I don’t like that any attack on Benji the coach is seen by some as an attack on Benji the man and you must hate him or what he did for the club in his glory years as a player. Very juvenile take.

Heath is a 14 at best these days. If he can learn to play hooker that is. 14 should be where he starts in Cup next season
I’ll lose my sh!!!!t if they move everyone around in cup every week to accommodate Heath again. We should have a very competitive team with good kids & solidified positions not to just shoehorn Mason in it

Agree if he can learn to tackle at 9 to rest api that’s his best shot at playing more FG

yea the last 10 years have just been bad. I want to just have a wests tigers jersey with the words "after 3 Spoons, you can't hurt us anymore".

I never said Papi was a dud as usual you don't keep up with reading posts and reply without all the facts.
Honestly, the forum format sucks. It's either 'go dig back through 5-6 replies and find what people said.
or
just reply.

That said, except for those last few games with us and Papi was at Lock. He was a dud who did not perform to his potential. That's on him, but also on the coaching staff who couldn't get player buy-in. If Papi stayed in 2025 and played to his potential he would have filled the gap at lock we had.

I totally agree regarding shuffling players to accommodate one. It should only happen if injuries hit during a game. We especially need our spine players in cup & flegg playing in their actual positions. A strong & performing cup side will only help the nrl side thrive.

It was more that we never got Papi to play to his potential with us .. at Parra Moses always gave him the right ball on the edges and put him into holes .. with us .. we never utilized his potential on the edges .. we used him as a battering ram up the middle. "Galvin" .. had a lot to do with him noting getting good ball service on the edges. Don't blame Papi for leaving us.

It will be interesting to see how he goes once he gets here and starts playing, but I don't currently see where Andrews fits. I reckon centre could be his go. Got a good step and can pass a bit. Kicks goals. Not sure of his speed, that will be his big issue. Could be a lock one day too.

If Bula leaves could be a AJ Brimson
