Very strange that Elliott would choose Souths as they have Cameron Murray who will certainly be their starting 13 and always plays big minutes and they also rate Lachlan Hubner as another 13 to come off the bench.
If he played close to the best of his ability he would be our starting 13 which indicates if we wanted him we would be a much more suitable option than Souths or virtually any other NRL club for 2026.

It actually does have an effect on retention and recruitment, they might be professionals that doesn’t mean that all are idiots. There are players that look at the club itself before they decide whether to go there or not. Look at Ice for example he signed with us to play under Madge, then when the board decided to sack him he tried to get out of his contract before coming. All players hear the stories about us and some players have even directly admitted they would never come to us because it’s a poorly run club. I know if I was a professional RL player and the Tigers tried to recruit me I would laugh and would rather retire before coming here no matter how much they offered me. Being a basket case affects recruiting and retention it happens in almost every professional sports team that is one.

Great post. With HBG in charge no player can be certain of the direction or coach for any given year irrespective of ‘contracts’

Off memory he got injured on rep duty and sent home and it went quiet on him from that point , you would think if round 10 it would be everywhere in media , fingers crossed it’s wrong or we in trouble right off the start as he was very good for us and 80 minutes per game ,

He played in the Pac Champs final and finished the game on the field.
