Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I hope Starford To’a eats a bit of concrete and toughens up, but I’m fearing right centre is going to be very problematic for us this season.
I’m satisfied with Patrick Herbert as a back up right centre option if To’a continues to play in a dinner suit and if we have no other better alternative options.
I’d like to think Taylan May might be open to changing from left centre to right centre if required.
Before we heard about Toa's on going injury I was thinking why the hell are we bringing this guy to the club.

But it's fairly obvious now isn't it, they cannot have high confidence in his fitness getting him through a long season.

Was pleasantly surprised with his trial form, can be used to cover injuries.

Apparently he has trained on both sides, but his hip drop and fend are heavily favoured to him playing on the left hand side of the field.
Being the older more experienced player I think it would be a much easier transition for May if we wanted them both in the centres.
Madness. A kid with his talent should be coached to play both sides. Just looks a freakish athlete.

By good do you mean i said he is a good NRL player? I said he is good depth at 5th choice backrower, but in actual fact he is probably 7th choice. So I stand by that.

I also acknowledged his defence was average on the weekend and if that keeps up hes gone. I also said other depth players are really nipping at his heels. I also stated I may be clouded in my judgement a little because I dont mind seeing him do well....thats because he played for what was known as the dirtiest club in Balmain, but even though he was dominating the comp, he was never dirty himself, i like that. I honestly couldn't give a stuff if Tony makes it or not. However, from ive seen he is a decent human and just a kid (in my eyes), so if someone on a forum is going to attack the kid with false information like Balmain Boy does then im going to call that out. BB claimed he gets dominated every hit up he makes. Yet couldn't point me towards one single time he got dominated. The fact is, he averages more metres per minute played than what Sam Fainu does. So I believe its fair to challenge BB on that comment, and he hasn't delivered anything to prove himself correct while im proving his comments incorrect.

Dont mistatke this as me thinking Tony is a gun, far from it. Just calling out dribble and treating the youngster fairly.

Anything else we need to address here?
I was just joking. I didn't expect this. We good?

I guess we can all make that assumption …

Toa’s injury has been around since at least half way through last season .. if he is still carrying it, must be a major worry and I question why they extended him 2 weeks before the end of last season …

He's about the same level as Starford Toa at 1/3 of the cost
Id saynhes nowhere near star (at his best)
Short.memories i think, when star wasnt hampered with his shoulder early last year he was on fire and doing some freakish things.
Unfortunately this injury is.chronic....its not getting better while he.plays and surgery could make it worse.
Id say its.not a.matternof if but when...cup of cement @Vicious wont help him

Again … it’s a strange decision to extend Toa then with a chronic injury … brings back memories of the Olam situation which we all knew was odd from the moment he was signed here

Maybe they are trying to get Star a medical payout like Olam

I'm talking about the news from the surgeon saying it can't be fully repaired that was only recently.

If they extended him and they knew that, it would be a brain dead decision of the old days, surely they couldn't have known the full story, Richo was here at the time he wouldn't of rubber stamped it.

Edit: just seen you touching on medical retirement, that's what a smart club would do.

Yeh true.

It was an odd decision to extend him when they did like two weeks out from the end of the season when he was clearly busted and already under contract for 2026

Mark my words, Taylan May will be close to if not playing origin this year... or is that just the off season talking?

Yeah, don't have all the answers mate it sure is puzzling.

I don't know about you but to make a horror movie out of it, can just see it now reaching for the shoulder and wincing in the trial Friday.

Get the medical retirement paperwork ready.

Charlie is a winger or fullback who we tried as a centre and he didn’t appear up to it defensively.
Herbert does not have the speed of Staines, but he’s a bigger body who is a very good front on defender and a good hole runner.
So I don’t think we are comparing apples with apples when comparing those two.
We still still definitely have at least one availability for an outside back for our top 30 if a good one pops up, otherwise I assume we will promote from within.

Mate we need 12 players to play in the back 5 this year if it's the same amount used as last year who are the 12 ?

Toa is rocks or diamonds.

Let’s assume he’s injured - likely. Let’s face it, he’s generally pretty shit.

Options are:

Herbert is playing first grade (no likey - I think he’s a cup player)

OR

You could bring Mak into centre and put Skelton on the wing (I don’t like that - yet)

OR

Put Douhei to centre and Latu to 7.

I’d prefer to buy a gun specialist centre and leave Mak on the wing.

100%.

Herbert is a typical Tigers depth signing that will play first grade when the intention was for State Cup. A 2026 version of Faataape.

Seems that might be on the cards …

I gotta be honest .,, I don’t want Toa getting picked in the NRL team week in week out like last year, and trying to play through it … if he can’t go at a 100 percent then sit in the crowd and he can watch the game with the rest of us

I’ve got him down for a post career blowout.

Reckon he’d be a fiend for smashing the Smiths Crisps and Shapes like the best of us.

He’s got that fat future about him.

Mmm he really does mmmm

I think (far from certain) he wouldn't qualify for medical payout due to the shoulder being a pre-existing injury when he signed.
