Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If the money is best spent elsewhere, then yeah, any of those guys will do. I rate Attard.

Need to replace Api soon, so who knows
I rate Attard also.
Looks a handy player, keen to see more.

Think there's a plan in place with Api.

Hope > Haywood > some youngster.

Need to plan for the future though, indeed.
Haywood looks the goods. Imo.
Colyton lad.

I would love just one season when we don’t have these off field distractions.

Just sign or fark off.
You, and everyone else are forgetting one important thing

There is a club option for 2027! He is signed until the end of next year! There really isn't a reason to rush it. There's no media hype around his signature, it's not a disruption, the only people I see stressing about it are people on this forum.

Agree. It would be good to get it done but I really think the fans are more impacted by these things than the players.

Far as I know the Tigers wave the option to renegotiate a contract

Moses doesn't get paid any money for next year if a new contract is not done

His current contract was done by his old manager

The club isn’t taking that option

Hull KR’s Tyrone May keen to reunite with brothers Terrell and Taylan in NRL

Tyrone May left the NRL a shattered figure but was the hero of Hull KR’s World Club Challenge boilover of the Broncos. Now the former premiership winner has a plan to reunite with his brothers.

Broncos giant-killer Tyrone May is keen to reunite with his brothers in the NRL after revealing his “rock bottom” fightback from rugby league’s infamous sex-tape scandal.

Hull KR halfback May was outstanding in Friday’s World Club Challenge boilover of Brisbane, outpointing champion rival Adam Reynolds to inspire the Robins’ 30-24 stunner at MKM Stadium.

May’s composed performance demonstrated why the clever utility is still good enough for the NRL as he plots a potential reunification with his younger siblings Terrell and Taylan at the Wests Tigers.

A two-time premiership-winner at Penrith, May accepts time is running out for a family affair.

The Samoa international turns 30 in June and while he is contracted to Hull KR next year, the Robins are unlikely to stand in the road if May craves a Tigers homecoming.

May revealed the brothers have had talks about finally forming a Holy Trinity at Concord.

“There’s always going to be that temptation to play with my brothers,” he said after engineering the greatest win in Hull KR’s 144-year history.

“It’s something that we’ve spoken about, we’ve dreamt of doing since we started walking, really.

“Every time contract time comes up, there will always be that chat.

“We all fall off-contract at the same time, but that’s not till the end of 2027.

“We’ll cross that bridge when it comes.

“I did have the opportunity to go back home and play with my brothers last year, but I turned it down because I thought that this was the right thing to do.”

That’s a reference to Robins coach Willie Peters bringing May to East Hull in 2024 after a two-year stint at Catalans, where he rebuilt himself in France after navigating the worst chapter of his life.

The Blacktown product was one of the first players to be subjected to the NRL’s no-fault stand-down policy following his sex-tape saga.

He was hit with a three-year good behaviour bond and ordered to perform 300 hours of community service.

But May has found contentment at Hull KR after admitting he had to have a good look at himself during his darkest days.

“Rock bottom … I guess you can say when I was in that limbo where I really didn’t know if I was going to play,” May said of his off-field ordeal.

“Going through the stuff that I had caused myself, and then having the realisation that I had to look in the mirror, and end up accepting the fact that it’s my fault and then moving on.

“I guess when I moved over to the Catalans, it was a good realisation that there is a (second chance).

“People don’t always have the same opinion, and I think it took for me to leave (Penrith and the NRL) to acknowledge that and then finally accept the fact that I was in the wrong.”

Having since amassed 165 games in the NRL and Super League, May says he is proud of Terrell, 26, and Taylan, 24, who joined the Tigers midway through last season after battling mental-health issues.

“I’m very happy, especially with my youngest brother going through the stuff that he did last year, being able to turn the corner and show what he showed to the world,” he said.

May dedicated the epic World Club Challenge win to Peters, who is regarded as an NRL coach-in-waiting.

“It was good to get it done for him,” May said. “He has stuck by the club … just 10 years ago, they were relegated.”
Let's go

Where did this family drop from?

You mean there was a halfback hiding in the UK who outclassed Adam Reynolds and we haven't offered them 1M begging money to come play with us?

Mate every team every year has these distractions . The premiers just lost the greatest people of all time in his 20s to the team that came 15th .
It is the inevitability of the salary cap . what’s messing us up is we haven’t established our course moving forward , although I think it’s starting to become clearer.
All I wanna say to Bula and his family is , he has been paid well and rewarded accordingly , and it was the tigers who took a chance on him when there was not much going on and his bball career was heading down the toilet . Short memories and all that .

Ah yes. Forgot about Haywood.

I'm sure after the first 5 or so rounds it will be clear if we still have weaknesses in the starting team.

I just worry about Bula because that same lethargy he played with on the weekend, I also saw when he was playing for Fiji. Just hope he doesn't make a habit of it and we are stuck with a guy who chews up a million dollars for 5 years.

I think they all need at least 1-2 years in nsw cup . In saying that I think the 3 big boys , so Godinet , JTM and Havea , could step up and not let the team down now . If being over matched .
If we can keep the bulk of this top 30 together for the next few years whilst these guys come through than happy days .
We also haven’t seen Roberts and JPP yet . Both early 20s .
No, those 3 all need lots of time. Have a probably another 3 years, Godinet 1-2 before they can contest for first grade. CTM having a larger frame helps but he's still just a boy, as they all are.

Pasifiki Tonga or Laiafi would be great, ready to make an impact now. Though props we are still stocked for for now.

Tyrone isn’t the shape of a traditional halfback .. he can play centres (probably not quick enough) .. 5/8, number 7 .. and even at lock. He has good ball skills when he runs with the ball. The May brothers have always wanted to play along side each other in the same club/team .. whether this allows all of them to play at their best is the question .. ?? Worth a shot I say .. 😀😀 (sorry for the mid-night’ish post .. currently touring Norway and Sweden 🤪)

I know but how many times have players put themselves on the shop window to other clubs by playing here and the left?

The salary cap should exempt players that make their NRL debut at a club. In the case of Penrith they would have a huge amount of depth if they retained all their players with the club being able to pay them whatever they want. However if another club was to come to them and offer them a contract to play first grade which would be captured in that clubs cap then the player had a choice to make.

Best thing is it makes each club responsible for growing their juniors outside of their area.

Just my thoughts.

HTF did Cleary get off?

NRL is so corrupt.

Did you not know that the match review committee did not factor in the wind conditions or the fact Clearly was running down hill and at that angle he got lift off like a hang glider and as he had uncontrollable lift off it was not his fault but in fact mother nature

Mother nature has received a 3 match ban

Confirming I did not consider any of that.

Horrendous precedent they have set already for the whole season.
