He’s old school like Bellyache which obviously is controversial these days but I think it’s important coaches like him aren’t wiped out. Rugby league won’t survive if political correctness wins.

Madge is nothing like Bellyache. Bellyache gets the piss taken out of him constantly by his players when switched off from the serious stuff. Madge doesn't have that sort of relationship with his players. There is a similarity in how they want teams to play and commit, but not similar in how they approach implementing that.

I don’t know them on that level obviously.

But in terms of hard work and standards and not compromising on them, they seem pretty similar from afar.

I think Craig has an angry dad vibe … where it’s obvious his rage comes a good place . And when he’s chill , they all sit down and have a giggle , but in the moment no one wants to disappoint him … Madge has a lunatic type vibe … where it’s not disappointment being the feeling he gets out of his players but fear . I mean fear works … until it doesn’t . Then guys just go “F this shit … I don’t care what he says” … which is the natural evolution I think . Where as disappointment , when he’s yelling at you … youre like “F man I can’t believe I let him down like this” .
It’s the same yelling , but depending on what happens the other 23hrs a day will determine which reaction you get .
A psych told me once , when I yelled at my son .. and I was a mess about how I was ruining his life … it’s not about that one moment , it’s why you do the other 23. If they’re filled with love and validation and strong bonds , when you do get upset he will feel like crap , yes cause you’re yelling , but more because he made you yell .
My point … there’s no point yelling if you haven’t laid the ground work 24 hrs a day , 7 days a week , 52 weeks a year etc. It’s the consistency which justifies the extreme reaction.
Benji has the forever present dad vibes . When it’s time to lay the law down you lay it down hard . But once it’s said .. you move on . I can see Madge laying the law down and giving a “don’t Fn talk to me “ vibe for a while after . Anyways .. I’m probably stating the obvious but yea … I had to learn that as a dad . Yelling and getting angry is a waste of time if you do it all the time . It loses its meaning and power .

He won a premiership last season, regardless of what you think of how he won it. But there is always people/journo's after him.

Was doing a job today and started talking to the lawn mower contractor cutting the grass interesting conversation this guy is best mates with Galvin old man.
He told me about the deal with the dogs was done 18months prior to Galvin leaving the tigers between Gould Galvin and the assistant coach Vella who was the major driving force in getting Galvin to the dogs.
Not that I care I am glad he's gone and we all basically knew it already.

As for Bronson Xerri he has come to training late a few times but the real reason they want to move him on because Mat Burton has a big money offer from the Perth bears and his partner is form WA, the dogs want to keep Burton and Burton does not mind if he moves to the centres eventually to accommodate Galvin he did say that Galvin will eventually move to 13 as they have another promising junior coming through who will partner Woods in the halves, As for Xerri I think he will be moved on pretty soon my bet is he will be at the storm.

No tigers news just a rumour and gossip I thought I would share.

Potentially i think every young fella in our system could end up very good, unfortunately not many make the NRL Level.
And as we have seen over the last 12 months you can do all the developing and the kids go and sign with another team.

Don’t know what the answer is to help teams keep their development players and stop other teams from poaching them when they are finally ready for the NRL ?

As long as we keep the elite ones and at and fair price.
It's a team effort that needs to be managed as a whole. Make it enjoyable to come to work.
Can never keep an overpriced ego type on a reasonable pay packet. They tend to be toxic to the culture.

You’re wrong though. It’s been reported we’ve offered him 2 deals both @ 950k, two years and four years. He hasn’t signed them. Idk where you keep getting the “we’re waiting” idea from. He’s clearly dragging it out until May to sign elsewhere it’s not the club doing it.

I think we should withdraw any $900+ deals.
And offer new contracts for what he is really worth.
And only keep him for this year. I'm over it.
