Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The guy has destroyed us in the past, remains to be seen whether he can show that sort of form playing for us.

I had no idea what sort of money he was on and what the length of his current contract was but he turns 28 towards the end of the season so you would think that he still has a lot to offer, can't say that I hate the idea but not all that confident that we could pull that one off.

AJ Brimson anyone...?

I've heard the WT, via a 3rd party, are making enquiries regarding AJ Brimson...

I reckon he'd be a great replacement for Bula if this eventuates...
I could get around Brimson as a stop gap.

I think its pretty clear that Bula re-signs on a long contract or he leaves at the end of the year. There will be no options taken.

Yeah I’d take him for a couple of years ,…always plays well against us… a guy I respect 👍

Edit - scratch that ..he is contracted at the Titans until end of 2030 at $850k a year !
If titans chip in $200-$250,000 a year to balance their cap he would be a good pick up at $600,000 and could fill other positions if the youngsters develop into the players we hope they do

What do people think about making a play for Reece Walsh now that Brisbane is falling apart?

Just figured whilst everyone was talking out their ass it was a good one to bring up..

Or Kayo Weekes?

He was our best second rower in flegg last year. Scored almost a try a game and scored on debut for Fiji. Has literally played every position but halfback over the past 3 years.

We've got plenty of guys who work hard but struggle to make an impact. He's all impact, so a Bench Forward most likely for now, but he still can't get a look in. We need some players who run hard, aggressive lines with power

He's not an 80 minute forward, but that's ok. I'd extend him for a few more years now. Have no doubt it's he was at the storm he'd score 10-15 tries a season in the NRL in a year or two
How old is he 21 ? I watched his 2 game's last year off the bench for Fiji, he made big impact with really strong runs and good defence. Maybe there's still areas of his game that needs developing?

I'd be stringing him and Moses along for as long as possible - even to the point of telling we are taking up the option even if we are not - just to piss Moses and Gus off.
I read that his player option expires in May and ours expires in June. So you would think from a club perspective we would hold and see if he takes up the $800k option and then we have a month to decide if we want to pay him the $900k to keep him for an extra year. That's putting any extension deal to the side. We all think the hold up is Bula, maybe its us not wanting to pull the trigger early on the extension or the $900k club option and calling Moses bluff. If Moses is not getting paid he will be desperate for us not to activate our option so I expect May to June will be a very busy time and this should be sorted one way or another in that period. I get the feeling if Bula does not activate his option and does not accept an extension we will take up his option for 2027, if he has already come to some sort of agreement with the Dogs, that will give us more bargaining power in a player swap deal....Maybe Tracey and Xerri partially funded by the Dogs for 2027.

I mean ..I haven’t heard he wants out or the club wants to move on from him… so is there actually a reason to think this is a possibility? I think the Titans likely keep him …certainly the next couple of years …personally I wouldn’t want to commit to him until 2030

Actually think it’s a possibility. He’s said he’s not happy playing centre and they’re about to move him back there because he’s useless in the halves and Kini is their fullback. The titans salary cap is so unbalanced and he’s on huge money they might be happy to just let him walk.

Do you want him until end of 2030? He turns 28 in September….

We need a stop gap solution at fullback for 2 years i reckon if old mate moves on

For the right price only, he isn’t a 900-$1m player these days.

For the price that he would want based on what he is on at the Titans would worry me.

AJ needs space & plays his best roving.
Fullback is his spot.

28 end of this year so time on his side
Biggest problem with AJ is his body.

The other part is get him now weather a swap of just buy him straight out. Playing centre for the Titans this round, not what he wants.

I would trade for Skelton.
