Def makes sense to give Luai as much time as possible. I reckon Jock's done enough for us to keep him at 7 when Luai comes back. AD is a great runner, & provides so much attacking spark, but I just don't see him as a 7. I'd put him at right centre.

I think he can play 13 or 6 equally well. Don't think he's a 7 at this stage.

Once thing that concerns me with him is he hasn't changed his tackling technique (head first into the legs). He needs to, otherwise he's going to keep missing games with HIA, injuries or suspension.

Wouldn't mind seeing this happen, but I think Benji sees Jock as a fill in, not a senior part of the starting side.
 
Madden may well play himself into the 7 jersey for good with AD still carrying an injury. AD looked very slow against the Eels today and isn’t kicking at all. Luai might get another week off but there will be some decisions to make once he’s fit.
My preference is
Madden 7
Luai 6
AD at 3 (right centre)
May 4
Latu 14 (can fill in at 6,7,9,13)

Wingers are a tough choice with Maka, Tavana, Skelton and Turuva all competing for the 2 spots in my view.

Wingers are Masi and Turuva . Toa and May centres . Although Toa had some horrible missed tackles in Reggie’s today .
 
Gonna be hard to drop Madden or Douihei right now

Can AD provide the same output at lock? Only solution I can think of getting all three on the field at the same time
 
Don't know what thread to post this in, and this isn't a knock on Alex but bringing KPP into that right back rower spot might be one of the most underrated singular upgrades this club has ever seen. Turned that game and our right edge around.

Kudos to KPP. Won't get the wraps that Jock will for that game, but he single handedly change it from a 0-10 to a 12-10 scoreline at halftime, and ultimately won us the game.

If he gets caught for that steal maybe not but yeah he was terrorising that side. They had had 9 missed tackles on that side by half time we needed to get him more clean ball at Pezet and co. It’s great to have two young gun SRF’s. Both are weapons.
 
I can't remember this club ever having the depth we have now.
We're without Jarome (who I think we really missed yesterday) and Taylan yet still winning. In the past injuries meant a run of bad losses.
I watched the Magpies yesterday and between Attard, Star, Javon, Saukuru, Charlie , Sukkar, Geyer and Bunty we have every position covered by someone who can come in and do a job for the team.
Attard is one out of the box. Whatever it takes he hast to be retained or we'll have another Teddy situation.

If Adam is second picked after Api, it's a problem because it suggests some behind the scenes arrangement where Adam stays in the halves no mstter what. Of course, Luai is picked ahead of Douehi but, when Jarome becomes available, I really hope Madden stays at half, especially if he plays well against the Knights.

No it doesn’t. AD is currently 2nd on the dally m leaderboard in the NRL and earned his spot.

To accuse him of getting some special treatment is poor.

Not accusing, only wondering. Just because all the pre season plays and patterns focused on Adam as a half it shouldn't mean that he is guaranteed a spot there. I remember, not long ago, there was a stink about him only wanting to play 6 snd expecting 900k for it. Don't get me wrong, I like Douehi as a player but personalities shouldn't get in the way of what's best for the team.

I don’t get people wanting to move AD , he and luai look great together , madden does not run the ball yes he kicks deep but for me not much better than AD , maddens defence is not as good as AD , we have 4 1/2s , and benji has to pick two , luai locks down one spot , the other 3 are fighting for one spot , we can only carry one one the bench, latu will get that spot , because benji needs to keep his brothers happy , it’s just the why things go
 
AD trained the whole preseason as the no7. So I can’t see Benji changing things unless it is to accommodate an injury. Personally I like seeing a conventional no7 and that what Maden is. Kicking game is so important these days and Jock has a very good all round kicking game. I guess I a fully fit squad Maden plays 7 Luai 6 with May and AD in the centres and Latu at 14.

I guess it’s a good problem to have
